Bandit Lites provided the lighting package for the event, creating a relaxed, cocktail party vibe
USA - The 59th Annual Grammy Awards are rapidly approaching, and the Nashville chapter of the Recording Academy gathered 26 January to celebrate the successes and toast nominees including Maren Morris, For King & Country, Cassadee Pope, Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini.
Bandit Lites provided the lighting package for the event with Chris Lisle lighting design and Erik Parker as programmer, creating a relaxed, cocktail party vibe.
“The last thing we wanted was to turn houselights on and have a bright space with no ‘mood’, so our main considerations were to give enough light to avoid the houselights, but not too much that the party felt more like an office luncheon,” Parker said. “There was a lot of thought from the producers in how the layout of the room would be and the scenic elements and we wanted to accent them all without being distracting.”
Bandit supplied ETC Source Fours, VL 2500 Spots, PixelLine fixtures, and Bandit’s exclusive GRNLite LED Battens and GRNLite washes, providing specialty lighting for added accent for integral pieces along with GRAMMY branding.
“We have custom gobos for VL 2500 Spots that we placed throughout the room, Par 64 fixtures to add lighting for a media space, Lekos to give a good stage wash and specials for the main ‘party’ room, along with LED battens to light scenic drops and to give a good glow to a clear piano.”
In addition to creating a cool ambiance for the evening in a hotel ballroom, the team was tasked to light the media space that featured a step and repeat for interviews with multiple press outlets, each with their own needs.
“Bandit was great to work with, and our lighting tech, Tyler Veneziano, rocked it and made it all come together both quickly and neatly,” Parker added. “We were under a slight time crunch for this one and he killed it: the prep was awesome and end result was perfect.”
“Bandit is most appreciative of the opportunity to be involved with this prestigious event,” said Bandit Lites’ Brent Barrett. “Chris and Erik are both highly accomplished at presenting a creative yet tasteful visual element that this event requires. It is always a pleasure to work with them.”
The 59th Grammy Awards will air live 12 February from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on CBS.
