Craig Hunter of Banana Row in Edinburgh, with his new Dynacord Xa-2 SR system.
UK - Shuttlesound has made the first UK sale of Dynacord's new Xa-2 horn-loaded high SPL sound reinforcement system to Banana Row, the Edinburgh-based music services company. The new system makes one of its debut appearances in front of the most important people in the political world, when it is used at the Delegates' Ball at the G8 summit in the Gleneagles Hotel.

Banana Row is a multi-faceted music operation, incorporating rehearsal and recording facilities, instrumental teaching and PA/backline rental services for a wide range of customers. Having only taken delivery of the new Dynacord Xa-2 system at the end of May, the rush was on to gain some real-world experience with the system before the high-profile G8 summit event.

The first outing for the new system was at Edinburgh's biggest free festival, the Meadows Festival. Craig Hunter of Banana Row used the complete Xa-2 system, comprising two FX12 top boxes, with four FX20 bass bins. The system comes complete with Xa 4000 amplifiers, which have integrated processors.

"The system met with a really positive reaction from engineers and technical staff," says Craig, who first discovered Dynacord as a touring musician in Germany. "Originally, we were looking at the Cobra system, but chose the Xa-2 because it is quicker to set up. It's at the high-quality end of the market, but it's not as complicated as many other systems, which makes it easier for engineers to use. And of course, the sound quality was a major factor in our decision: the system is compact but it has the high SPLs necessary for outdoor festivals."
