The three-position Tank Trap will debut at this year's PLASA Focus, Glasgow
UK - Doughty Engineering is set debut a new adaptable, three-position Tank Trap at this year's PLASA Focus, Glasgow. Visitors to stand B6 will be able to find out more about the prototype product which has been devised to answer customer demand for a Tank Trap which would allow rigging close to a wall, in the corner of a room or near to an obstruction.

It has a detachable receiver suitable for 48mm barrel, which may be fitted to any of the three mounting points. These mounting points are located in the centre as per a standard Tank Trap, at the edge and in the corner.

Dan Phillips, project sales coordinator at Doughty said, "The Adaptable Tank Trap's mounting points consist of a welded socket which the receiver slots into. The receiver is held in place with a 12mm stainless steel pin, which is in turn secured by a pair of lynch pins. The mounting points and receiver are CNC machined to ensure a close fit to minimise movement in the joint once the pin is in place. The removable receiver has the added benefit that, once removed, the Tank Trap has a far lower profile with the receiver removed (45mm tall) than a standard Tank Trap (305mm tall).

"We are excited to launch this piece of kit at PLASA Focus Glasgow and are keen to get as much feedback as we can as we continue to fine tune the design to ensure it's exactly what our customers need and want."

Doughty will also bring its two newest clamps to this year's show - the Doughty Space Saver Clamp and the Atom G Clamp - both of which are making their first appearance in Glasgow.

Dan continued, "We think our customers and prospective clients will really like the Space Saver Clamp. This product is unique to Doughty and has been designed to help reduce the amount of wasted space that can be an issue when storing clamps, since they are awkward in shape and difficult to transport and store. The Space Saver Clamp folds down to a height of just 50mm - saving 100mm of space per clamp - which is quite a significant saving when you might have dozens or even hundreds of clamps to store."

Made from high tensile aluminium, it has a SWL of 100kg and has been designed so that it does not have to be removed from the item it is attached to for storage.

The Atom G Clamp, which made its debut at PLASA London is the 'baby' of Doughty's popular Atom Clamp family and has been designed in response to a customer request for a clamp that is suitable for small architectural luminaires.

Mark Chorley, design engineer at Doughty commented, "As with a considerable number of our products, this item started life as a one-off for a well-known lighting company which was looking for a neat and unobtrusive way to hang one of its architectural luminaires. We realised that other companies would also benefit from the design of this clamp which fits 10-25mm diameter truss and has an 8mm diameter fixing hole."

Doughty's new Articulated Carriage will also feature on the stand. The kit, which Doughty has added to its Studio Rail 60 range has been designed with film, TV and theatre in mind. It enables the Studio Rail perimeter track to be used for scenery and lighting - a significant benefit to both TV and theatre applications. "We are extremely excited to bring this item to Glasgow and look forward to gaining some valuable feedback from customers - new and old, who visit our stand, "concluded Dan.
