Electric Group will open Friday and Saturday evenings for live shows ahead of the clubs
UK - The new owner of SWX will work with local and national promoters to bring more live music to the Bristol club.
Electric Group, which also runs Electric Brixton, completed a deal for SWX last month, recognising “the performance potential in its outstanding atmosphere, production and sightlines”.
With Ticketweb providing box office and marketing support, Electric Group will manage the SWX live diary from Brixton under head of music Mike Weller’s direction.
Weller has been working with the SWX team to further refine the venue’s live set-up, technically and commercially.
Dominic Madden, Electric Group co-founder, comments: “We operate with an independent mindset, shaping an easy and collaborative culture for promoters to embrace SWX with as few financial strings attached as possible.
“Having invested substantially to make the venue production complete we are focused on providing a perfect platform for shows so we can help promoters smash ticket sales.”
DHP and local promoter MJR have put several profile acts into SWX this year, including Thee Oh Sees, Ride and Django Django, with Aldous Harding, Saint Etienne and Beans on Toast & Skinny Lister coming up in the next few weeks.
SWX also hosts top DJs, Sigala, Clean Bandit, Jonas Blue, Don Diablo and Sigma among them this autumn. Club nights attract more than 250,000 Bristol students to the venue every year; making for an ideal opportunity to market shows to a new generation of gig-goers. And Electric Group will open Friday and Saturday evenings for live shows ahead of the clubs.
