USA - City Theatrical has released a new update to its DMXcat app, version 2.1.0.9.0.0, which includes the Flicker Finder function in the DMX Tester app, among other enhancements, when connected to City Theatrical’s DMXcat-E test tool device.
DMXcat-E users can start using these new features by updating their DMXcat smartphone app from the App Store or Google Play (requires Apple iOS 13+ or Android OS 6.0+, 64-bit). As outlined in City Theatrical’s DMXcat-E Quick Start Guide, the DMX Tester app allows the DMXcat-E and DMXcat devices to Analyze DMX, View Levels, and perform the Flicker Finder function.
The Flicker Finder function allows the user to find the source of any DMX Flicker on the DMX universe by setting levels and noting if any levels have changed. Flicker Finder allows you to take a snapshot of the slot levels of an incoming universe and detect changes in those levels. The Flicker Finder will continually monitor the snapshot taken against the new incoming data. If there are any changes to the slot levels, the app will notify the user, allowing the user to view the slots that had a change in level and what the recorded and changed values were. Slots that change are highlighted in red.
In addition to all the functions DMXcat users currently enjoy, including utilisation of the DMXcat free smartphone application for iPhone and Android to plan, install, operate, and maintain theatrical and studio lighting equipment, DMXcat-E allows users to view and send Ethernet protocols, including ArtNet and Streaming ACN (sACN). As more manufacturers implement Art-Net RDM into their fixtures, the DMXcat-E is ready to be the essential test tool for the future of lighting. DMXcat technology is covered by U.S. Patent # 10,129,964 B1 and other U.S and foreign patents pending.
