Al Murray will be serving up a very special night of comedy for the live events industry
UK - For one night only, on 25 March, Al Murray The Pub Landlord will be serving up a very special night of comedy for the live events industry at the Dorfman Theatre, within the National Theatre, in aid of backup - The Technical Entertainment Charity.
Sponsored by SFL, TSL, White Light and The British Drum Company, and with the kind support of The National Theatre, this is the night that the artists we support pay it back and support the technicians of the live events industry.
As well as The Pub Landlord, there is a great supporting line up including Mike Gunn, Tiff Stevenson, Danny Posthill, Nick Revell, Matt Price plus more acts to be announced, and live music from Brighton troubadours, The Cloggz.
“Because this is a night for the industry by the industry, it was incredibly important to backup to hold the first Comfest at the National Theatre because of the organisation’s ethos of staging ground-breaking productions that embrace the very latest technology,” says backup trustee Lee Dennison. “It’s the pinnacle of everything that is good, both technically and artistically, within our industry. We’re incredibly grateful to the NT for allowing us to hold Comfest at The Dorfman, and to Al Murray and all the artists who are so generously donating their time to perform at the event.
“The evening will undoubtedly help raise awareness of how backup is helping those that work so tirelessly on the technical side of the industry, as well as providing the charity with additional, much needed funds to continue its crucial role in supporting them.
“This promises to be the one night of the year you should be at theatre, and is the first of what we hope will be an annual gala comedy evening in support of backup.”
There are a limited number of VIP tickets and general admission tickets. When they are gone, they are gone! Please go to the backup website for tickets.
