Feedback from exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive
USA - More than 16,000 people attended LDI2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre in November – the highest total in the tradeshow’s 32-year history.
Many of the world’s leading industry brands chose this year’s LDI Conference and Tradeshow to launch new products and initiatives, as the show focused on the future of design and technology.
Drone technology was in the air as Intel demonstrated its latest units with nightly shows – the star of the synchronicity involved 300 drones forming into a giant LDI logo in the night sky, before regrouping to perform a variety of choreographed routines.
Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Mixed/Merged Reality and AI were firmly on the agenda as experts in the field explored how these technologies will impact the future of experiential entertainment and our lives as a whole.
Sustainability and giving back to the community was a major focus. Encore Event Technologies US, MASARY Studios, WorldStage and many exhibitors provided audiovisual setups for families affected by autism, as hundreds of children experienced sound and light on the show floor as part of the Sunday Sensory Stroll.
Climate change and sustainability were discussed at multiple events, including a Broadway Green Alliance-hosted session discussing The Case for Sustainability in Live Events and a new LDI Award for Sustainability, recognising an exhibitor’s efforts in environmental care and social responsibility.
The importance of diversity in the industry was discussed, with real action taken via a presentation to the inaugural recipients of the Pat MacKay Diversity in Design scholarships, all of whom will receive assistance to get ahead in lighting, digital media and sound design.
LDI further enhanced its TV and film market support by offering a series of in-depth sessions with leading broadcast lighting designers in the Live for Broadcast Pavilion. Prominent voices discussed the changing landscape of the broadcast industry and how technology, innovation and the evolution of the medium itself are transforming the creative process.
The best in pro audio descended to the LDI Amplify Pavilion where a series of top audio pros and designers presented a series of sessions in conjunction with AES.
“Thank you so much to everyone who attended, as exhibitors, visitors, or speakers this year, it really was the best LDI yet,” says Jessi Cybulski, LDI show director. “We have received extremely positive feedback on the range of the sessions and the quality of the technology on show – as well as the networking and business opportunities LDI2019 presented.”
LDI2020 will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, October 19-25, 2020.
