When Acoustic Control Installed the first line array speaker system in India it was at this auditorium at Christ University in 2006. Subsequently Acoustic Control was commissioned to update the same installation in 2010 and a JBL Vertec 4889 system was installed in the auditorium.

"When Christ University once again decided to up the ante it was not a difficult decision in choosing the JBL VTX25, as when we read the technical specifications and subsequently heard the system we knew we had to install the VTX system in a showcase venue and where better than at Christ University's auditorium that boasts so many firsts. The First Line Array Speaker Install in India in 2006 & The First JBL Vertec 4889 installation in 2010," reports Sanjay Mudartha, director Acoustic Control.

The system comprises two hangs of eight JBL VTX 25-II line array cabinets and four JBL G 28 subwoofers under the stage. The System includes JBLVRX932's and VRX 928's used as fills. The entire system is amplified using Crown IT HD amplifiers and is monitored and maintained with a computer running Performance Manager 2.0.

The system was modelled and mapped in EASE to ensure optimum coverage. Also part of the upgrade was the addition of a Soundcraft Impact Digital console and a matching Soundcraft Stage box.

"The upgraded system definitely sounds a lot smoother and is more transparent. The VTX 25's put out a lot more SPL, hence we have a lot more headroom now and are extremely happy with the way in which Acoustic Control has implemented and tuned the system. It just keeps getting better," says Christ University sound engineer Rajan.

This Installation is the second JBL VTX 25 system Installation in India. Acoustic Control was the first company in India to install the JBL VTX 25 at Bethel AG Worship centre a few months ago. "One of the biggest hurdles that we faced is that the Christ University auditorium is in such great demand that we had to upgrade the system, change cabling and power distribution and have it back online in under two days to meet the hectic schedule of events," says Mudartha.

Besides this top of the line speaker system, the auditorium has also installed an extensive Martin intelligent lighting system, LSC Dimmers, Jem hazers all controlled by a LSC maxim XXLP. The Video system comprises two Barco projectors one a 30,000 lumens unit and the second a 10,000 lumens unit with Extron switching and video transport all of which were designed and installed by Acoustic Control.
