USA - Atlanta's Alliance Theatre recently revealed the final renderings for a renovation that will completely transform its facilities. The project, which will begin in the summer of 2017, will help the Tony Award-winning theatre company produce ambitious works, better engage with the surrounding community, and provide audiences with more dynamic and comfortable theatre-going experiences.

The transformation, led by Trahan Architects in collaboration with Theatre Projects (theatre designer and planner) and Talaske (acoustician), will include a complete overhaul of the Alliance Stage, their 770-seat mainstage theatre. Among dozens of improvements and additions, the overhaul will entail re-seating the room to pull the audience closer to the stage for a more intimate experience, new staircases and terraces for better audience circulation, a new audio system, upgrades to LED lighting

Sweden - Långbro Värdshus is a top restaurant located just outside Stockholm. Situated in an architectural and historically significant villa, it is run by the renowned Swedish TV chef and author Fredrik Eriksson. In line with its quest for excellence, the restaurant recently upgraded its audio system and Inexo, a local custom installer, chose Genelec's 4000 Series loudspeakers for their clarity of sound and ease of installation for the new system.

Italy - The Mon Amour nightclub in Rimini combines a high quality dining experience with late night DJ sets and live music by top Italian artists. A recent audio upgrade saw Mon Amour added to the long list of Italian venues which trust Yamaha products to deliver high class entertainment to their customers.

The upgrade was carried out by Promo SRL of Alba Adriatica, which has been installing Yamaha equipment in prestigious projects for eight years.

The company installed four Installation Series IF3115 three-way, UniPhase loudspeakers to cover the dining area. Featuring a 15" low-frequency driver, eight-inch midrange driver and three-inch HF compression driver, the IF3115 can deliver a calculated continuous SPL of 127dB, with exceptional clarity. This makes it suitable for nightclubs where seamless sound is required between the dance floor and surrounding areas.

Australia - Since its inception seven years ago, Vivid LIVE at Sydney Opera House (SOH) has always pushed the boundaries, whether in performance style, musical content, or the support structures that underpin it. So when Jeremy Christian, head of sound and AV at the SOH suggested to the festival curator Ben Marshall that he wanted to implement a new piece of control software from d&b audiotechnik, Marshall said, "I'm all for it."

UK - One of Scotland's oldest and most renowned theatres The Pavilion in Glasgow has invested £100,000 to bring high quality audio to the many comedy, music and variety performances it hosts. Working with leading pro-audio partner The Warehouse Sound Services Ltd, The Pavilion chose to invest in a cutting edge d&b audiotechnik sound system. The system is one of the most advanced on the market.

The Pavilion's management team recently restored the theatre's exterior revamping the stonework outside the theatre and incorporating a coloured light installation. Last year, the owners also made a significant investment in upgrading the interior.

USA - Way back in 1955 American Reformed Church held its first service with just 30 families in the lovely city of Luverne, located in the extreme southwest corner of Minnesota. After decades of steady growth, the now vastly-larger congregation recently completed construction on a new 800-seat state-of-the-art worship centre.

Twin Cities-based Audio Video Electronics (AVE) signed on to the project mostly after the facility layout was planned and designed. The architect for the project was Architecture Inc, based is Sioux Falls, SD with Derrick Knight, Derrick Knight Acoustics, as acoustician.

Germany - The Bavarian city of Regensburg is renowned for its medieval centre, nowadays a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But just a few minutes away is one of Germany's most modern sporting stadiums, the new Continental Arena, where a Yamaha audio system has achieved the goal of great sound without the penalty of going over budget.

Opened in July this year, the Continental Arena has replaced the city's 89-year old Jahnstadion as the home of football club SSV Jahn Regensburg, which plays in the Regionalliga Bayern (Germany's 'fourth division').

UK - Dolby Laboratories and Ministry of Sound have confirmed a collaboration to bring Dolby Atmos sound technology to dance music.

The Dolby Atmos residency at the Ministry of Sound nightclub in London will launch on 23 January, 2016 with Hospital Records, the first in a series of special events with a lineup of top electronic artists who will "transform their music into a multidimensional, immersive sound experience with Dolby Atmos".

These factors were certainly in play when technology supplier and installer Lindbak AS Gjovik set about a recent audio project at Storhamar High School in Hamar, Norway.

Austria - Since 1982, the Kulturhaus (culture house) Dornbirn, Austria is a popular event centre for the entire Vorarlberg region. After an extensive planning and implementation phase, which was administered already in 2013 by the company Tonplan from Dornbirn, the final step of the installation of an Alcons sound system in the main hall of the cultural centre took place in 2015.

Poland - Specialist integrator, SLX has completed the design and installation of a state-of-the-art sound system for the new Tychy Municipal Stadium. Located in the city of Tychy, the 15,300 capacity venue is one of the finest sports facilities in the southern Polish region of Silesia.

Home to the football team GKS Tychy, the new stadium has been designed to meet the requirements of UEFA and FIFA and as a true multifunctional venue for concerts, cultural and artistic events, fairs and conferences. In addition to the main sports arena, with six commentary positions, the site comprises restaurants, conference rooms, two TV studios, VIP lounges and impressive amenities for players and athletes. UK - A scalable QSC Q-Sys digital audio network has been installed at London's Excel Exhibition Centre by experienced installation specialists Paul Todd and Eddie Thomas of SSE Audio. Based around a Core 1100 processor, the new QSC system replaces Excel's ageing background music system, and is used in conjunction with an existing Ateis voice alarm. All of the QSC equipment was provided by Shure Distribution UK.

Having struggled with the daily management of the previous system, Excel gave SSE a brief to create a fully redundant network with a bespoke, user-friendly graphical user interface. Q-Sys has been integrated into Excel's existing fibre network ring, and now distributes up to 256 x 256 digital audio channels from 18 racks, each with fibre network connectivity and full redundancy.

UK - Over the past couple of years the iconic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, has undergone a major £14.5m refurbishment. This has included the building of a brand new smaller-scale venue, Music Room, on which Stage Electrics and Northern Light worked closely together to supply and fit out, as well as being major contractors for the 1700-capacity main auditorium.

The project was split into two phases. Phase one focused on the main Hall whose 1939 art-deco style architecture has earned it Grade II*- listed status.

It included works to the auditorium, all public, front of house spaces, and backstage dressing rooms and warm-up areas.

USA - Located in Houston, Texas, the Alley Theatre is a nationally recognized performing arts company that creates a wide range of innovative productions. Recently undergoing a $46.5m renovation which included improvements to the Hubbard Theatre, associate director for design Kevin Rigdon was asked to also serve as the principal designer for the project.

Working with theatrical consultants Bill Connor & Associates as well as Philips Strand Lighting aauthorized dealer StageLight, Rigdon was tasked with creating a more intimate relationship between the audience and the actors on stage, and he did so using 68 Showline SL PAR 155 ZOOM LED luminaires.

Austria - One of Vienna's finest concert houses, the Konzerthaus, recently upgraded the public address system serving its Great Hall and Mozart Hall, selecting Meyer speakers and Allen & Heath's iDR installation matrix mixers.

Installed by ATEC Pro, the new system is designed specifically for voice reinforcement. The iDR DSP systems comprise an iDR-4 matrix mixer for the Great Hall, and an iDR-8 for the Mozart Hall, with a PL10 8-channel rotary panel for remote control, and a PL-8 logic box installed in the Mozart Hall for interfacing to external systems.

Control of the entire sound system is via the iDR-8 and additional PL10 controller, including management of a hand-held radio mic and CD players for playback. The system default is Stage Manager mode, enabling limited access and control of settings for simple use.
