The church has been a customer of Solotech for almost 20 years
UK - Hillsong Church UK has chosen Shure’s Axient Digital wireless microphone system to power the sound of the singers in both theatre and arena sized venues.
Hillsong Church UK had a requirement for a reliable wireless microphone system that was versatile enough to be used at multiple locations, from theatres to arenas, whilst delivering professional and consistent sound.
Founded in 1983 in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia, Hillsong Church UK is a contemporary Christian church. It has churches in city centres in 28 countries around the world and an average global attendance of 150,000 weekly.
The church has been a customer of Solotech for almost 20 years. Phil Aitken, sales executive, Solotech comments: “When Ofcom implemented their licence change, Hillsong had to look at re-specifying all of their RF. It was at that point they chose Shure Axient Digital because it was a quality product they liked, and they knew they would need a product that Solotech as their rental company had plenty of to increase capacity as they grow.”
Stephen Maddox, head of production at Hillsong Church UK comments: “Hillsong now has a total of 36 channels of Axient Digital, all on AD2 handhelds with KSM8 and KSM9 capsules. The team found Axient Digital and the capsules to be a great fit and a great sound for them. We love the sonic clarity and the stability with frequencies on stage has been crucial for reliability, as we have a lot of wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring systems in close proximity.”
Consistency and ease of use was one of the main requirements from a system being used long term. Shure’s senior manager, pro audio, David Phillips, trained all of the group's volunteers on the Axient Digital system and worked with Solotech to make sure the organisation had everything they needed to feel comfortable on the product and its features.
“Education and House of Worship are both areas of focus for Shure and we are pleased to bring those two things together with Solotech and Hillsong,” says Phillips. “It was a pleasure working with Hillsong volunteers to train them on Axient Digital and Wireless Workbench software. It’s great to see our product being used to deliver services with such excellent feedback, we hope to work with Hillsong for many years to come.”
Phil Aitken concludes: “Axient Digital has a number of benefits for Hillsong Church but, being incredibly easy to set up and consistent for the worship team and production volunteers as well as diverse enough to take to different venues meant it has worked exceptionally well for them.”
