Bedri Rahmi Bay on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast

Turkey - Bedri Rahmi Bay, not far from Gocek in Mugla Province on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, is a location accessible only by sea and one of the first anchor points on the Blue Voyage. Catering for the many visitors who arrive by boat is Miori, a collection of six ‘culinary journeys’, which opened earlier this year. As well as the opportunity to eat and drink in its six distinct eating areas, Miori also offers live music performances and DJ sets.

Miori’s owners engaged leading Turkish audio specialists MEK1 Sound to design, supply, and install systems to cover each different area. Specialising in bespoke installations across the commercial and professional audio sectors, MEK1 Sound also distributes a number of leading international brands across Turkey. These include Funktion-One loudspeakers and MC² amplifiers, with the two brands front and centre in the design for Miori.

MEK1 co-founder Murat Uncuoglu, who is a DJ, oversaw every aspect of the installation, and was on-site from start to finish to ensure that the systems were tuned for Miori’s busy opening season, which saw international acts Boney M and Pink Martini take to the stage.

A total of 25 Funktion-One loudspeakers from the Resolution and Compact ranges were used in the Riva Lounge, Kitchen Restaurant, and Stage Bar areas, with Soundtube SM Series 8” commercial audio speakers used for the other zones, supplemented by a quantity of Soundtube XT850 and Ashly Audio outdoor loudspeakers for added coverage.

The installed system was driven by MC² amplification comprising two I-38 installation amplifiers (8 x 325W 4R with load monitoring, GPO & Dante option), and Delta-Series amplifiers – one Delta 20 (4 x 325W), five Delta 40 (4 x 1000W), two Delta 50 (2 x 3000W), and one Delta 80 (4 x 2000W). A further single Delta 80 powered a portable Funktion-One Compact system on the complex.

Veteran installer and founding partner, Ertugrul Karasati of MEK1 comments: “Miori provides a high-end gastronomic experience alongside premium entertainment, so the systems needed to reflect the owners’ ambitions to deliver exceptional audio quality across the whole complex.

“With six main zones and some sub zones, the challenge was to enable each area to provide smooth, powerful sound at an appropriate level for the different demands of the spaces during the day and in the evenings. The MC² amplification combines high-quality, powerful audio delivery with the robust reliability required for a demanding schedule and environment.”

Mark Bailey of MC² comments: “The installation at Miori is another fine example of the work that MEK1 carry out in Turkey with MC², using the quality and reliability of our products to maximum advantage in yet another ambitious and very successful project.”
