France - With a population of 57,300 and listed in the 500 cities where Life is good in France, Blanc-Mesnil is located just to the north of Paris, midway between the Stade de France and Charles de Gaulle airport.
Cultural life in the city revolves around the 710-seat Théâtre du Blanc-Mesnil which stages a variety of productions ranging from comedy and theatre to dance and music.
Sound reinforcement at the theatre comprises a Nexo STM system provided on a long-term rental basis by Loiret-based technical sound and lighting solutions specialists SPL, supplement by the theatre’s own inventory of Nexo speakers and powered controllers.
Clusters of six STM M28 main modules are flown beneath three STM B112 bass extension modules either side of the 22m-wide stage, with further sub-bass extension from ground stacks of three Nexo S118s.
Small stacks of three Nexo compact Geo M6 cabinets are located immediately adjacent to the subs for infill, with four ID24s from Nexo’s ID Series used for front-fills.
The venue’s own Geo S12s provide delays ensuring consistent, time-aligned coverage to the back row of the balcony, and the entire system is powered by Nexo NXAMPs fitted with Dante network cards.
“The system is operating almost every day, and we have about 160 activities per season – various performances, associative activities, school events,” reports Théâtre du Blanc-Mesnil technical director Bruno Monnez.
“The system is on long-term rental, which allows us to modulate the number of speakers according to the seasons we have. It is like a test centre, a laboratory, in order to get the most out of it in a real configuration: a performance hall.
“We have had very good feedback from the sound engineers who have worked with the system. In summary, it is a very good system that fits everywhere, for all activities. We are able to accommodate all disciplines of live performance with this system.”
