New Appointments at Stagetec

As part of Stagetec's expansion programme, the company has recently appointed Mick Cocker as Compulite product manager for the UK market and Peter Humber as sales executive. Cocker has over 18 years experience in all areas of the entertainment industry, most notably with Celco, Avolites and most recently with ADB. He will be developing new and existing markets for the full Compulite range of products and enhancing the existing UK dealer network. Humber has been involved with the music industry throughout his life both in the domestic audio market and more recently as general manager of a professional sound and lighting company based on the Isle of Wight.

New Marketing Administrator for TMB

TMB Associates has appointed Stephanie Algarin to the newly-created position of marketing administrator. Stephanie will be working with TMB's marketing director, David Downey, to further promote TMB's products and services. For the past six years, Stephanie has been manager of Decasource Inc, a studio lighting rental, manufacturing and software company based in Hollywood. She was responsible for all operational and marketing aspects of the company.

Key Appointments for Marantz Professional

Marantz Professional has made two important new appointments at its European Head Office at Longford, Middlesex. Russell Wiles joins the company as UK sales representative from TEAC UK, where he was southern sales manager for the Tascam products, while David Atkinson joins the company in the position of sales support from the world of pro audio editorial, as the former product editor at MI Pro magazine.

Myles Takes GM Position at Strand

Ivan Myles has been appointed general manager of UK Trading at Strand Lighting. He will report to Horst Eickmann, general manager of European Trading. Myles has been with Strand for many years and his knowledge and experience will allow the company to concentrate on sales in the UK, whilst co-ordinating European service and training operations.

TC Electronic Appoints International Marketing Manager

TC Electronic has appointed Stephan Israël as new international marketing manager. Israël has been involved with the UK audio business for the last 10 years, and has had responsibility for UK sales and marketing since January 1999. He will take up his new role at the TC Headquarter in Denmark from August 1st 2000. Present international marketing manager, Kenneth Ersgard, has decided to seek new challenges outside the audio business after three and a half successful years at TC and will leave his current position on June 15th.

Rackover Joins PRG

Barry Rackover has joined PRG as vice president of Lighting, Michigan, and will oversee all operations in business development, sales management, production and customer service. He brings with him over 20 years of production and sales experience, having worked with an impressive number of clients and supervised production for automobile shows and dealer announcements around the world. Prior to that, he worked extensively on live shows with such notables as Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Madonna, Bob Dylan and The Grateful Dead.

Bill Mackie Leaves ADS for Paso

Audio Design Services' sales director, Bill Mackie, has left the company to join forces with Italian PA equipment manufacturer, Paso SpA. The move follows Paso's recent decision to enter the UK market direct, and Mackie will take on the role of general manager. Paso was previously distributed in the UK by Audio Design Services.

Beresford Departs Stageline

Tony Beresford is to leave Stageline UK at the end of May to take up a position with a marketing and advertising company in its shows and exhibitions department as a project manager. Jon Slater of Pit Stop Barriers will take over Beresford's role.

PSL's new Ryder

PSL has appointed Mick Ryder to the company's Concert Touring Division, which is currently co-ordinating a number of high profile tours throughout the UK, Europe and the US, including Ricky Martin, Leftfield and Oasis. Ryder arrives at the company following four years as event director for Fulham-based Cube TV, but it is his previous 20 years experience as freelance production manager for bands such as UB40, Robert Palmer and Black Sabbath, that singled him out to PSL.

Dimes & Sillitoe Launch into Media Management

High End Singapore Announces Staff Changes

Jimmy 'JR' Chai has been promoted to regional sales manager for High End Systems Singapore. JR will continue to be based out of the Singapore office and be in charge of all sales and marketing activities throughout Asia. He was formerly account manager at High End Systems Singapore for selected Asian regions. In related news, Adrian Oh is leaving his role as general manager of High End Systems Singapore to seek other employment opportunities outside of the lighting industry.

Managing Change at ETC Europe

Mike Lowe, managing director of ETC Europe, has announced strategic changes in the management team. After nearly three years of commuting between his home in Copenhagen and ETC's European headquarters in North Acton, Tim Stokholm is returning to live permanently in Denmark. He will assume the role of manager, Northern Region, with responsibility for territories north of and including Belgium, Germany, Austria and Slovenia, while Fulvio Cotogni continues as manager, Southern Region, including South Africa and Middle East. Erik Larsen, previously sales manager for Northern Europe, becomes product manager for ETC Europe, a new role designed to provide two-way communication between ETC Europe and its customers for both existing and future products. Finally, Peter Ed now formally assumes responsibility for marketing as marketing director, ETC Europe.

Sound Dept Welcomes Back Andy Simmons

Strengthening the team at the Sound Dept is Andy Simmons, who has recently been appointed as sales director. Best known for his management of the Crest Audio UK operation before taking it to the Sound Dept two years ago, Simmons has recently finished a stint working with XTA Electronics as international sales and marketing manager. The Sound Dept is the distributor for many leading pro audio brands including Community, Crest Audio and, until recently, EAW. However, it has recently been announced that after the acquisition of EAW by Mackie they have decided to strip the Sound Dept of their distributor status preferring instead to put it with the RCF/Mackie UK office.

Autograph Sound Restructures

Andrew Bruce, who started the Autograph group of companies from a stable in Camden 27 years ago, has announced his decision to step aside as managing director and take on the role of chairman. This will allow him to focus on his career as international sound designer and consultant. Terry Jardine, who joined the company 11 years ago, will take his place as managing director of the group. Accompanying Jardine in his new role is Duncan Bell, who has been appointed group financial director. Duncan has worked in numerous technical areas of the company over the past 15 years before becoming involved in the commercial side of the business.

Avolites Appoints Training Manager

Chris West has joined Avolites as training manager. The position was created to capitalise on the potential of product training and support, both on-site and at Avolites HQ - in the last two years alone, Avolites has trained over 2,500 people. West will be co-ordinating all training schedules as well as overseeing the demo room in Park Royal, West London. He has just completed a BA Honours degree in Theatre Studies (Stage Management option) at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

Mackie's New US National Sales Manager

Mackie Designs has announced the promotion of Jay Schlabs to the position of national sales manager for all Mackie product lines, including Mackie, Mackie Digital Systems, and Mackie Industrial Contractor Products. Schlabs joined Mackie in 1994 as a technical sales trainer and in 1996 was promoted to western regional sales manager. Jay comes to the national sales manager position with an extensive background in music retail, live performance production and recording technology knowledge.

Lee Frankcom joins Coe-Tech

Lee Frankcom has joined the Coe-Tech sales team. Frankcom, one of the rock and roll industry's most colourful characters, originally launched his lighting career at the immortal Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park. Since then he's made his way made through a plethora of top lighting rental and production companies before becoming concert touring guru at Vari-Lite Europe/VLPS. Recent Coe-Tech projects have included the supply of Coemar lighting fixtures, via Lumenation to NMEC Lighting for the Millennium Dome and to top UK rental house Neg Earth Lights for the acclaimed Ben Harper European Tour. Soon to be available in the UK are the much talked about Coemar CF7 HE and WZ spot and wash zoom lighting fixtures.

John Eeles Joins Chameleon Sales Team

John Eeles has joined Chameleon Audio Ltd of Cinderford, Gloucestershire, in a market development role to promote sales of the full Chameleon product lineup, and especially the new ultra compact, lightweight D777 pro audio amplifier. His experience covers all aspects of live and studio sound facilities. He started in the music business as a pro musician, moving into sound production to support many leading artists. He is still involved, through his own company Spadger, in all aspects of production for music festivals from the Shetlands to Jersey.

New Appointments at JBL/Harman

JBL Professional/Harman Professional's projects group has appointed Rod Falconer as marketing manager, with responsibility for developing communication between the JBL/Harman projects group and end-users. Prior to this appointment, Falconer worked for AMX Corporation in Dallas, and before that for Lone Wolf Corporation in Seattle. At the same time, the company has announced the appointment of Brad Ricks as systems integration specialist. In this role, Ricks will provide large project coordination and design assistance for systems contractors.

Des Fallon Joins Nocturne Europe

Des Fallon has joined the fast-moving and rapidly-expanding team at Nocturne Europe as sales manager. From June 1st, he will be working alongside his old colleagues Chris Mounsor, Lee Spencer and Richard Burford. Fallon worked for the last six years supplying video systems to the music industry. His technical knowledge and communication skills have been instrumental in helping to establish touring video as a live music production genre in its own right - along with sound and lighting. He has handled accounts for artists such as Blur, Pulp and Robbie Williams.

Darracott Joins TFL

Total Fabrications Ltd (TFL) continue to go from strength to strength. The company doubled its workshop facilities last year, and has seen a major increase in the demand for its specialist manufacturing services. In order to meet that demand, TFL has recently recruited Neil Darracott to its ranks. Since graduating from Southampton University in '88, Darracott has spread his work experience between mainstream industrial engineering, and developmental work for the entertainment Industry, including time spent with Unusual Rigging.

New PR Man at Allen & Heath

Simon Priestley has joined Allen & Heath as marketing executive in charge of the company's PR activities. With a wealth of experience in marketing & PR, which began in the early nineties at Link House Advertising Periodicals in Poole, Dorset, Priestley enriched his skills by writing for several of the titles in the Link House portfolio. A move to the National Motor Museum Trust, Beaulieu followed, where he successfully managed the marketing of the Trust's collection of 750,000 photographs and the world's largest Motoring reference library. Simon Priestley is pictured (right) with Andy Rigby-Jones at the recent Frankfurt Musik Messe.
