France - Robert Juliat has announced the appointment of Thierry Dupont as its new export service manager.

Dupont comes to Robert Juliat with more than 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry, with assignments in France and the UK.

With effect from 1 June 2013, Dupont is responsible for providing technical assistance on behalf of Robert Juliat to lighting professionals throughout the world.

USA - Tim Dorwart, CEO of Community Professional Loudspeakers, passed away on 15 July 2013.

Dorwart became Community's CEO in March of this year and led the company through its introduction of several important new products at InfoComm. Dorwart's previous roles included director and VP positions with Bose Corporation and DMX Music. Since 2007, he had led the Stanton Group through a successful turnaround as their CEO.

Dorwart came to Community from Gibson Guitar Corporation where he held the position of general manager, pro audio and guided the integration of Stanton Group assets to form Gibson's new Pro Audio Division.

Andy passed away suddenly on Friday 12th July on his way to an ALD Executive meeting, where he was due to discuss the next issue of Focus and the ALD website, both projects that Andy was intimately involved in.

Andy joined the Executive in October 1995, and filled several key positions starting as Associate Member Representative, then as Corporate Member Representative, before excelling in the role of editor for Focus, re-generating it as a full colour magazine that led from the front page with its pictorial content as well as the grammatically incorrect tag line that he judged each article submission by: "More Art, Less Tools", a direct response from the members

UK - Event production specialist Ethix Management has marked an exceptionally successful 12 month trading period by appointing Doug Maddison to the position of technical director.

UK - LSi Online has learned the sad news of the death of Derrick Saunders, for many years one of the best-known figures in the UK's professional lighting industry. Derrick passed away on Friday 16 August after a long illness. As sales and marketing director of Pulsar Light of Cambridge, Derrick was a familiar figure from 1970 through until his retirement from the company in 2000. Even in retirement, he remained actively involved with family business Adda Super Cases, alongside his wife Monica.

Derrick's funeral will be on 30 August at St. Andrews Church, Oakington, Cambridgeshire, CB24 3AN. All who knew Derrick are welcome to attend. The family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers to be sent to St. Andrews Church fund.

The two have worked together since 1999 when Adam joined Patrick at the Millennium Dome shows in Greenwich and since then they have collaborated together and worked independently on all sorts of lighting projects around the world.
