Tascam is showing its expanding digital DJ product range on the Tannoy Professional stand. On show are a brand new digitally powered DJ mixer and the very latest update of the company’s top flight DJ CD decks. Guest spots from top UK DJs on the stand are also being lined up. The Tascam X-9 is a uniquely powerful and appointed professional 4-channel DJ mixer which utilizes high resolution digital processing to offer a range of features including on-board sampling, recallable sweepable EQ and internal effects. 24 bit A-D convertors provide for the highest possible signal resolution from vinyl, with four sets of phono stage or stereo line level connections. Digital inputs enable CD decks and external devices, like MiniDisc players, to be directly connected without loss of quality.

Balanced and unbalanced Master outputs feature attenuation control. Pre-Master booth monitor (with independent level) and digital outputs (e.g. for recording) are also featured. Independently adjustable level and EQ is provided for headphone outputs on both the top and front panels. A balanced mic input also features independent level and EQ control. The X-9 is the only DJ mixer to currently feature three-band, fully sweepable, parametric EQ. Settings can be stored in up to a 100 recallable programmes. The powerful EQ can also deliver real time filter-sweep effects like no other DJ console, say Tascam.

Also being shown for the first time at PLASA is the CD-302 V4.0. This latest upgrade of Tascam’s highly acclaimed CD deck system builds on the astoundingly realistic scratch and break capabilities that these decks introduced to CD DJ’ing. Features new to V4.0 include a new 100% tempo shift capability, automatic beat sync’ing function and one touch reverse sample playback. Market leading features already standard to the CD-302 include its advanced beat matching control and metering, true instant start function, on-board sampling, brake and scratch turntable emulation, seamless loop function and 10 second shock RAM buffer. The TASCAM area of the stand will feature X-9 / CD-302 demo stations as well as a running demonstration programme and guest DJ slots.

Already confirmed for Sunday (9 August) are Dreem Teem’s Timmi Magic, Ja Da Flex from Black Market Records, Dave Le Rouge from Magic Studios and Sunship.

Tascam can be found on stand D30.
