dpa-5100klangimageDPA and KLANG:technologies collaborate
Wednesday, 1 September 2021

Europe - DPA Microphones and KLANG:technologies have teamed up to create a system that will enable live event teams to immerse singers and musicians in their on-stage performances. The solution integrates DPA’s 5100 Mobile Surround Microphone and KLANG’s Immersive Mixing Processor. In addition to the benefits of KLANG’s panning capabilities, the use of DPA surround mics replaces the need for large quantities of microphones to capture the entire environment.
Initially inspired by high-profile live sound users, the collaboration ultimately came to fruition during a series of workshops between KLANG and DPA. Engineers from the brands saw a natural bridge between the uncoloured DPA sound and the KLANG processing, which makes the system well-suited for everything from small clubs to large arena tours.
Dedicated pre-sets can be integrated through the KLANG:app, a control application for all KLANG immersive in-ear mixing processors, including the just released KLANG:vokal and KLANG:kontroller. DiGiCo users can also take advantage of the full workflow implementation on the surface of their SD or Quantum range desks.
KLANG will add presets to its in-ear technology that work directly with the DPA 5100 Surround microphone. “The goal is to make it even easier for people to assimilate the DPA 5100 with all our solutions,” says Dr. Roman Scharrer, CEO of KLANG:technologies. “For touring engineers, it’s always important to have a really straightforward, fast and reliable workflow to get the best possible result; the DPA 5100 used in conjunction with

Positioned between the flagship DZR / CZR series and the popular, affordable DBR / CBR series, all DHR and CHR units feature custom transducers, premium plywood cabinets and a tough polyurea coating.
The DHR15 and CHR15 two-way, 15-inch units are designed for front of house applications, including dual angle pole mount sockets, M10 rigging options and excellent full range performance.
The DHR12M and CHR12M are Yamaha’s first dedicated coaxial 12" floor monitors, delivering precise, phase coherent monitoring in a low-profile form factor. A side pole-mount adds flexible use as an outfill or a portable main PA unit.

rogue-outcast-1-beamwashChauvet unveils Rogue Outcast 1 BeamWash
Thursday, 26 August 2021

USA - Chauvet Professional’s aptly named Rouge Outcast 1 BeamWash is a new compact IP65 rated fixture, which weighs only 20.2 lbs.
“The Rogue Outcast 1 BeamWash breaks new ground,” said Albert Chauvet, CEO of Chauvet. “By going beyond the standard beam/wash concept to include an outer ring, we’ve been able to offer designers a compact, but powerful, fixture that opens a world of design possibilities.”
Made up of 97 RGB LEDs, the pixel mappable outer ring features 12 zones of control and can be run independently from the centre pixel beam/wash. A stealth filter hides the outer ring when it’s not in use, so the fixture appears and works as a pure beam/wash.
Designers can control the background colour and foreground effects independently on the outer rim. This allows them to create complex multi-coloured looks on the rim whether they are pixel mapping or using the fixture’s extensive library of built-in effects.
The centre of the Rogue Outcast 1 BeamWash consists of seven bright 45-watt RGBW LEDs capable of producing a 4,073 lumens output. Advanced optics incorporated into the fixture’s design result in excellent colour blending and tight beam effects. (A 3.9ﹾ to 55ﹾ zoom range ensures maximum coverage.)
The Rogue Outcast 1 Beam Wash is loaded with high performance features. Among these are 16-bit dimming of the master dimmer and individual colours. There are six distinct dimming modes for advanced control.
Other features include emulated red shift, selectable PWM settings for broadcast applications, remote acces

lasb10iL-Acoustics adds subwoofer to SB line-up
Tuesday, 24 August 2021

France - L-Acoustics has announced the launch of the newest addition to the SB line-up, the SB10i. Delivering the same sonic signature of the company’s much larger subs, but from a’ vastly scaled-down enclosure design’, SB10i is not much larger than two side-by-side shoe boxes.
“The L-Acoustics R&D teams took on the challenge of designing a low-frequency enclosure with the L-Acoustics sound in a living room-proportioned enclosure,” says L-Acoustics product manager Germain Simon. “Even though it may sound like it defies the laws of physics, our new SB10i is a brilliant realisation of that objective. It condenses the full power of an SB Series sub into an incredibly small, efficient package that will fit into any environment where a visually discreet yet high-performance system is desired.”
Equipped with a single 10-inch driver, 27Hz bandwidth limit, and 124 dB maximum SPL output, the high-powered SB10i measures only 21.3” L x 21.3” W x 6.7” H (540 x 540 x 170mm) and weighs a mere 33 pounds (15kg). Sonically corresponding with L-Acoustics X4i and 5XT ultra-compact coaxial speakers, the new sub has a discreet design, and is available in RAL colours, making it a prime choice for high-end residential and commercial environments, and sophisticated hospitality settings, sports luxury boxes and museum installs.
“There has been increasing demand in the residential and commercial markets for audio systems that give the same experience as being at a dynamic, vivacious live show," says Nick Fichte, global business manager for L-Acousti

ovation-reve-e-3-1PLASA Show 2021: Chauvet addresses theatre & broadcast
Tuesday, 24 August 2021

UK - Visitors to stand E-23 at PLASA “won’t believe their eyes or ears” when they see - and don’t hear - Chauvet Professional’s Maverick Silens 2 Profile and the Ovation Rêve fixtures, says the manufacturer.
Described as “see all, hear nothing from curtain to camera”, both fixtures are expected to generate a loud and enthusiastic buzz among those involved in theatre and broadcast lighting as a result of their high output and performance features.
“We’re creating an immersive environment at PLASA that’s all about exceeding any one viewer’s perspective,” explains Michael Brooksbank, managing director of Chauvet Europe. “With ABTT merging with PLASA, we know that there will be a greater theatre presence at this year’s show. Broadcast professionals should also be well represented; and our team is eager to introduce these visitors to two products that are ideal for their markets.”
This enthusiasm is easy to understand when looking at the Maverick Silens 2 Profile. Already impressing with its performance at Paris’ Louis Vuitton Foundation, the 560-watt profile fixture features a completely fan-less design, which allows it to operate in absolute silence, while delivering impeccable colour consistency. Further distinguishing this product are its customised optics, variable CMY+CTO colour mixing, +/- green adjustments, and a host of other features, including animations effects, static gobo wheel, and emulated red shift.
The Ovation Rêve will also be impressing with its “best of both worlds,” design that combines th

austrianAustrian Audio debuts live performance mics
Thursday, 19 August 2021

Austria - Austrian Audio has announced two new microphones that bring their studio-quality microphone experience and technology to new handheld vocal mics that are designed for live performance.
The OC707 is a rugged vocal microphone with a die-cast body and true condenser technology for superior sound on stage. Developed and built in Vienna, the OC707 contains a small-diaphragm condenser capsule with a frequency response optimized for the human voice. The capsule is handmade in Austrian Audio’s facilities in Vienna. Its combination of low self-noise (19 dB SPL) and high sound pressure level (150 dB SPL) results in an impressive dynamic range, creating a vocal microphone that has all the important characteristics of a studio mic but can withstand the rigors of everyday stage use.
The OD505 is an active dynamic microphone that combines the advantages of a dynamic stage mic with the sonic refinements of a condenser microphone. This vocal microphone achieves nearly the same sensitivity as a condenser mic due to its dual capsule design where the bottom capsule is phase-inverted and passively switched. Combined with a switchable second order high-pass filter and the Open-Acoustics technology, noise from handling, bumps, and stage rumble are effectively eliminated.
These new microphones utilise Austrian Audio's special Open Acoustics technology, which allows sound to enter the capsule almost entirely unimpeded from all sides. Contact points between the mounted capsule and the enclosure are reduced to a minimum, allowing for an open and natural sound w

a400mbmx395wtablefingerredledShure releases Microflex mute button
Thursday, 19 August 2021

UK - ‘Sorry, was trying to find the mute button’ is a phrase heard all too often in meetings when users are unsure if the mute button is on the screen or microphone. To help resolve this persistent frustration, Shure is introducing its Microflex A400MB, a touch-sensitive Mute Button accessory that adds convenient audio mute functionality to the Microflex MX395-LED low-profile boundary microphones and MX405, MX410, and MX415 modular gooseneck microphones.
The A400MB installs like a washer between the microphone body and the table or lectern surface, hiding the circuitry underneath the surface. The mute function is easily programmed with onboard switches to provide complete flexibility and can be configured as momentary (push-to-talk or push-to-mute) or toggled (push-on, push-off). The A400MB Mute Button includes local mode as well as remote mode, making it easier for users to focus on what they care about most.
“With the rapid adoption of collaboration technologies in a wide variety of environments, the A400MB adds convenient, cost-effective local and remote mute functionality without the hassle,” comments Doug Daube, category director, microphone systems at Shure.
The new A400MB Mute Button can be easily customised to address a variety of room types and configurations. If A400MB mute buttons are installed with multiple microphones on a table, pushing any mute button can mute all the mics simultaneously, and all microphone LEDs can also change color to show that the outgoing audio has been muted.

UK - Shure is launching its new Microflex MX415 Dual Cartridge Gooseneck Microphone, to provide ‘maximum versatility and a streamlined appearance for applications where great sound and great looks go hand-in-hand’.
Mounted to a single, flexible gooseneck, the sleek, low-profile dual cartridge housing ensures every word is captured simultaneously by two cardioid cartridges, each to a separate output preamp - ensuring reliable, multi-feed audio with a streamlined appearance for major broadcast events, corporate presentations, and all other critical use cases.
“The Microflex MX415 Dual Cartridge Gooseneck Microphone provides the same legendary audio quality customers have come to expect from the Shure Microflex wired line, delivering reliable, high-quality audio for high-stake moments,” said John Born, associate director, global product management, at Shure. “When critical events are on the line, the MX415DUAL captures it all - twice.”
Each audio signal path is completely isolated with its own ground to ensure that electrical interference is not transferred between mics. With the integrated CommShield technology, RF interference from mobile devices is rejected, resulting in a clean signal to keep the focus on the speech. The most demanding situations are now covered by Shure’s new MX415DUAL, guaranteeing that the highest-profile speakers will sound extraordinary and deliver their messages successfully.
