UK - Zeal has made a major investment in Martin MAC Viper XIP fixtures, reinforcing its commitment to delivering high-quality lighting solutions for live events and productions.

“With LED technology advancing rapidly, new fixtures are constantly being released,” says Steve Hough, managing director at Zeal. “But when it comes to spots, our priority is finding a fixture that provides consistency, quality, and longevity. When [exclusive Martin Professional UK distributor] Sound Technology demoed the MAC Viper XIP, we expected something similar to what we’d seen before – but this one really stood out. It impressed both our design and production teams enough to investigate it further and, ultimately, make it our go-to spot fixture.”

Zeal first saw the Viper XIP in August 2024 – in the middle of a busy period. Despite the packed schedule, the

Finland - Tony Kushner’s Angels in America continues its sell-out performances at Finland’s National Theatre, with a projection-heavy design driven by a Green Hippo Hippotizer Boreal+ MK2 Media Server.

Staged in the theatre’s Small Stage space, the 292-strong audience each night is drawn to the proscenium opening which is 10m wide and 6m high, where the 15m-wide back wall is turned entirely into a projection surface. On stage, the team has rigged a set that features 13 pillars, ‘ancient’ marble and a piece of statue bulging from the wall, and five portrait-shaped window frames, making projection a challenge.

“The set consists primarily of a single stage image – a ‘too wide’ back wall, which we wanted to turn into a projection surface,” explains Ville Virtanen, head of the lighting and video department at the Finnish Natio

France - The municipality of La Tour-de-Salvagny has a new Anolis lighting installation on the eye-catching roundabout in front of the Pasino Grand Partouche entertainment complex. Formerly known as Casino Lyon Vert, Pasino Grand is a flagship establishment of the Partouche Group.

As part of its overall energy optimisation policy, the city of Lyon delegated its civic lighting responsibilities to SIGERLy (Syndicat de Gestion des Énergies de la Région Lyonnaise), founded in 1935, an organisation that unites the Lyon metropolitan area and 65 municipalities, undertaking public service missions focused on energy management.

This specific initiative made it possible to modernise the lighting on this roulette table-shaped roundabout which is a popular landmark, utilising the highly versatile Anolis Calumma XS LED fixtures.

Austria - Leyard Europe has been involved in a major installation at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Arena in Salzburg. As part of the extensive digital signage overhaul, ROPA Digital Displays provided a customised solution with Leyard’s Tfree transparent displays, featuring a 2.6mm pixel pitch and an exceptionally lightweight structure.

The project presented several challenges, particularly the limited load capacity of the arena’s roof. However, Leyard’s innovative technology and tailor-made approach enabled ROPA to deliver an advanced solution that met the venue's specific needs.

The installation consists of four Tfree Pro-F 2.6 displays, with the highlight of the upgrade being the new LED cube positioned above the ice rink. This 4 x 2.5m cube replaces an outdated rear projector system and was carefully designed to meet strict weight specifications.<

Europe - January/February saw Universal Pixels (UP) providing the backdrop to Snow Patrol’s European arena tour showcasing their chart-topping eighth LP, The Forest is the Path.

UP supplied three upstage Roe V4ST LED walls with Brompton processing, Panasonic RQ35 projectors, Panasonic UC4000 & UE150 cameras and Disguise media servers – the album gave the sell-out tour a theme of growth and overgrowth. Roll drops coming in and out are among the unique production elements bringing an extra dimension to Atticus Finch and Flint Studio’s imagery in front of the band’s trademark projection and LED layers.

Snow Patrol are on the road infrequently, it’s six years since their last full production arena run, so confirmed dates foster considerable expectation. And the practised team behind the tour, from PM Robin Scott and show designer D

This adaptability allows the theatre to accommodate both large touring productions and more intimate performances.

Opened in 1982, the venue is known for its distinctive architecture, which, although renowned, presents challenges for sound installation. When TRP required an upgrade to its ageing sound system, EM Acoustics was chosen.

"I’ve been using EM products for years across all the venues in the theatre," says Dan Mitcham, head of sound at Theatre Royal Plymouth. "We’ve always had a great relationship with them, and the upgrade to EM for the

USA - When it came to lighting a recent one-off show for Everything Always Forever (the collaboration between John Summit and Dom Dolla), designer Marcus Jessup needed to look little further than the GLP portfolio for his creative solutions.

The show at the 20,000-capacity Gorge Amphitheatre, an outside concert venue in Washington state, unleashed an abundance of creative energy in this large-scale production, thanks largely to the use of GLP’s impression X5 IP Bars. This, he says, had made the collaboration a seamless one.

Jessup had been brought in by the creative house, Sturdy. “We collaborate on a variety of projects and in this instance, they recognised the need for someone with experience in large-scale outdoor scenography and lighting design,” he says. “Although the show at the Gorge was conceived as a one-off, elements of the design c

Canada - Lighting a festival in a former power plant lends itself to electrifying images. The team at Onedot certainly thought so. They took this inspiration and flew with it during the three-day Lumen Festival that Produkt produced at New City Gas, a site that traces its roots back to an 1849 generating station.

The hard-edged venue in Montreal still bears witness to its industrial heritage, and the designers at Onedot smartly played on this evocative aura to create an intense, aggressive show that bristled with kinetic energy while supporting performances by Timmy Trumpet, Gordo, Adventure Club and other EDM stars.

Onedot's design team hung illuminated bars on kinetic winches down from the vaulted ceiling over the dancefloor. Crossing over the room, these bars added to the raw edginess of the performances, carving up the overhead space wit

Finland - In the vibrant Konepaja neighbourhood of Helsinki, an audio-visual hub known as Kino Konepaja has emerged. More than just a cinema, the space is an intersection of film, production, and sound design coupled with a New York soul that’s led by Jussi Myllyniemi of Whitepoint, a Finnish post-production company. It’s here that Genelec’s loudspeaker technology plays a key role, transforming a once-traditional space into a venue that ‘blends exceptional sound with the latest on-screen hits’.

The intimate, 55-seat venue was conceived as a production space that could also serve as a cinema, driven by Myllyniemi’s background in post-production and commercial movie events. “Initially, we considered collaborating with existing cinemas, but when that didn’t work out, we decided to create our own,” he explains. “We’d had this facility in
