Namibia – Maerua Mall, located in Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, underwent a major renovation and expansion at the end of 2024, introducing a host of new retail, dining, and entertainment facilities. Three of the mall’s newly opened restaurants – Bossa, Ocean Basket, and Galito’s - turned to Stage Audio Works (SAW) Namibia to design, supply, and install sound systems tailored to their needs.
Each restaurant required user-friendly control, clarity and coverage throughout the venue. “From the outset, we were given complete freedom to design a comprehensive system,” says Joppie Maritz, managing director at SAW Namibia. “Our goal was to deliver a system that is easy to navigate and would provide high-quality audio.”
As some restaurants are located outside of the mall, background music needed to be loud enough to mask the noise of the street and traffic, yet subtle enough not to disrupt customers’ conversations. To achieve this, SAW specified Audac for a reliable and user-friendly audio solution.
Across all three installations, SAW Namibia combined ceiling and wall-mounted Audac loudspeakers, carefully matched to each venue’s interior layout. To achieve consistent coverage across the dining areas, the loudspeakers were arranged into zones, allowing individual spaces to be set at appropriate volume levels.
In one of the restaurants, an audio matrix was added for flexible routing and zone control, while in another, the Audac SourceCon enables easy switching between television audio for live sports and background music.
Audac amplifiers provide both power and management throughout the three restaurants, supported by modules offering audio streaming, media player, and internet radio options, giving the restaurant a wide range of playback sources, including Spotify. “The amplifier is fully compatible with the Audac Touch app,” explains Maritz. “It allows staff to manage sources, playback, and volume directly from mobile devices or a dedicated PC, ensuring smooth daily operation and creating an inviting atmosphere for guests.”
