The Dubai Expo is taking place in the Al Wasl Plaza
UAE - The Dubai Expo opened its doors last Friday, 1 October, with Van Damme cabling playing a key role. NMK Electronics, Van Damme’s export partner in the Middle East, was asked to provide Van Damme cables for the Expo which was rescheduled from 2020 due to the pandemic.
Van Damme Quad Microphone, Black Series 2×1.5mm speaker as well as Tourcat 6A S/FTP was selected for the job. Many kilometres of each are being used to ensure crisp sound to the many speakers throughout the venue. as well as for the many lighting fixtures needed for the miles of pavilions the expo has.
All of the cables were chosen for their ruggedness and ability to stand up to pressures of a busy and dynamic environment, as well as outstanding flexibility and performance. NMK was able to supply the cable from a significant stock holding in its warehouse in Sharjah. To finish, Neutrik and Switchcraft connectors were used as well as rugged RJ45s supplied by VDC.
The Dubai Expo is taking place in the Al Wasl Plaza which is thought to be the world’s largest unsupported dome. It forms the centrepiece of Expo 2020 and will remain as the iconic hub of District 2020.
No stranger to big projects in the Middle East, Van Damme was specified to be used in the Sheikh Zayed Bridge, NYU’s Abu Dhabi Arts centre and it also manufactured a 96-channel system for the Fifa Club World Cup 2019.
Sithara Kumar, NMK’s product manager for cables and connectors said: “I am proud to supply Van Damme cables for the Dubai Expo; this is one of the many significant upcoming projects that NMK has in the pipeline, including the opening of the new SeaWorld as well as the upcoming Qatar World Cup.”
