The Netherlands - Solid State Logic will showcase the SSL Live console at the 2014 ISE show (Stand 7.H18).

"Industry reaction to the arrival of SSL in live sound has been extremely encouraging," states Antony David, managing director at SSL. "Much of the initial attention has centred on the superb sound of the console and the excellent ergonomics it offers to engineers, but the console also delivers from a technical integration perspective.

"The combination of versatile inbuilt and remote connectivity, generous processing capability and extremely flexible console configuration and routing and powerful output matrix make Live the perfect product for installed environments. We are very excited to be exhibiting at ISE for the first time and looking forward to meeting the unique partner and user community that attend the show."

USA - The Harvest Bible Church in Cypress, Texas, had a challenging agenda: allow its 1,000-seat sanctuary to have an intimate ambience yet still have both speech and music fill the entire space intelligibly and coherently, despite a relatively low 18-foot ceiling and highly reflective surfaces on the walls and floor. And one more criterion: keep the PA system's profile minimal and as invisible as possible.

It might have seemed difficult to meet all of these goals, but a RoomMatch loudspeaker system from Bose Professional Systems was just the right solution.

Covenant Communications, an AV systems designer and integrator in Houston, used two RM12020 modules, one RM12010 module and an RMS215 subwoofer in each of two L/R arrays, all powered by three Bose PowerMatch PM8500N eight-channel amplifiers. That was all it took to fulfil all of the needs of this complex acoustical space.<

USA - John Meyer, CEO and co-founder of Meyer Sound Laboratories, was inducted into the TEC Awards Hall of Fame at the 2014 NAMM Show. Following an introduction by Dennis 'Wiz' Leonard, long-time FOH mixer for the Grateful Dead, Meyer received the award as he joined Frank Zappa, Phil Spector, T Bone Burnett, and 30 other luminaries who have shaped the art and science of music, recording, and sound reinforcement technologies.

"Throughout my career, I have worked to create technology that brings audiences closer to musicians in a transparent way," Meyer says. "There are products designed specifically to make art, but my interest has always been to create a high-quality listening experience without interfering with the artist's creation. By providing these tools, we strive to enhance the shared entertainment experience that will surely remain a way of life for genera

Spain / The Netherlands - Among all the products for AV installers and integrators that Work is presenting at ISE 2014 (stand 7-M176), UDA 16, the array configuration column, is "probably the crown jewel", the company says.

"This new concept of column loudspeaker with line array shape provides many advantages for integrators: controlled beamwidth for almost all frequencies reproduced by the column which leads not only to minimise undesirable effects induced by walls and ceiling reflections (reverbs and echoes) but also to excellent results in reverberant acoustic conditions and a perfect music and speech intelligibility," says the company.

Another attractive launch prepared for Amsterdam will be the new series of active and passive subwoofers Z15 and Z18. This new series is composed of four models, Z15 (single 15"), Z18 (single 18") that can be co

USA - Calvary Church of Naperville, located in the western suburbs of Chicago, recently wrapped up a five-month sanctuary renovation that increased seating from 2500 to 3000 without moving any walls. As part of the project, the church also underwent a full AVL system retrofit, which was designed and integrated by CCI Solutions of Olympia, Washington.

CCI church relations director Duke DeJong said the client put a premium on the audio portion of the project. "From the very start, the church was very intentional about making sure the new sound system would be more than a home run; it had to be a home run with fireworks," he says. "They were very specific in saying that the audio needed to be intelligible, powerful and flexible - spectacular in every sense."

With this as their directive, CCI senior systems consultant Mark Pearson and his team turned to three l

UAE - Sennheiser Group reports another year of significant double-digit growth for its Dubai-based Middle East operation. The company attributes the growth to increased regional adoption of conference and translation systems, the Middle East broadcast industry's ambitions to match global standards in audio systems design and deployment and an increased usage of wireless audio systems in smart classrooms.

The company recorded a 62% year-on-year (YOY) increase in gross profit in the region owing to a number of project wins in the education and hospitality sectors and a notably strong performance in the consumer electronics segment in which the company saw revenues increase by 52% in 2013.

Mig Cardamone, sales and marketing manager at Sennheiser Middle East believes that the fresh wave of spending in the region presents a huge opportunity for the company. "There is no doubt

USA - Maryland Sound International (MSI) employed some of its inventory of 200-plus Powersoft K Series amplifiers to drive the PA systems for the Countdown and Nivea stages during New York City's iconic New Year's Eve festivities in Times Square, which are attended by an estimated one million people and watched by a further one billion worldwide.

This year's celebrations at the 'Crossroads of the World' also marked the debut of MSI's new proprietary BB30 subwoofer, which incorporates Powersoft's revolutionary, patented M-Force linear motor technology and delivers a frequency response that is flat to 20Hz, the company says. Each stack of BB30s was topped by a pair of MSI's new side-fills.

This was the sixteenth year that MSI has provided production sound for the New Year celebrations in Times Square. According to Bob Goldstein, owner, MSI: "One of the many reasons we use P

Italy - Although ground broke for the construction of Milan Cathedral in 1386, it was only in the last decade that its construction was declared complete. The massive architectural project took over six-hundred years. Milan attracts two million visitors a year, and almost all of them visit the famous cathedral.

To convey the epic story of its construction and to raise additional funds for Milan Cathedral's costly upkeep, the Cathedral Museum opened in 1953. In keeping with the long timescale of the cathedral's construction, the museum closed for five years and only recently re-opened, completely refurbished and ready to accommodate contemporary revenue streams. Among its new offerings, the museum added a conference room that can be rented for meetings and dinners. To keep costs low, but functionality and fidelity high, the conference AV system uses an Ashly Pema 4125.10 100V out

Denmark - Globally renowned chef Claus Meyer has recently opened The Standard, a live jazz and restaurant venue in Copenhagen, Denmark. The jazz club features a compact, self-powered Meyer Sound UltraSeries loudspeaker system installed by Kastrup, Denmark-based Stouenborg.

"The Standard has a small, powerful, and flexible system that offers excellent dispersion and reproduces sound perfectly," says Anders J°rgensen, project manager and sound designer for Stouenborg.

The installation in the 68-seat club combines two UPJ-1P VariO and three UPM-1P loudspeakers with one UMS-1P subwoofer. Performances are mixed on a Roland V-Mixer mixing console, and musicians use DPA microphones.

"We considered a number of options, but the combination of UPJ-1P and UPM-1P loudspeakers best provided the necessary audio fidelity and visual unobtrusiveness," says J°rgens

Russia - Reminiscent of one of the lighter scenes in Taratino's classic Pulp Fiction, the Pink Cadillac restaurant in Moscow city centre has exactly that, a beautiful nineteen fifties model, all fins and chrome, sat right in the middle of the room. This is the real deal; dancing, singing waiter bring burgers and milkshakes to your table in this immersive retro dining experience. Yet for all this glamour the building used to be a garage so when AE Consulting first came to remodel the room the acoustic environment was one of their primary concerns.

"We faced a real challenge," said Alexander Evstratov, AE Consulting director general. "In our line of work we focus on quality rather than quantity, so to neutralise the reverberation of the room and other unwanted acoustic artefacts, required the lightest of touches architecturally speaking. To complete the fifti

"I'm looking forward to meeting the network of EMEA distributors at Integ

UK - If you have ever wondered how DiGiCo's application specific software extensions work, two newly released tutorial videos make it even easier to find out.

Hosted by DiGiCo's Dan Page, the new video tutorials provide a quick and easy resource that takes you through the main points of each software extension, demonstrating that the T and B versions of the SD range are as simple to use as the original live versions.

DiGiCo's proprietary Stealth Digital Processing already gives SD console users a huge advantage in the real world. DiGiCo's T and B application specific software extensions provide additional set of tools, for theatre and broadcast respectively, that are normally reserved for much more expensive consoles.

T software is available on the flagship SD7, SD10 and SD9 consoles, making the same powerful functions that are used in the West End and on Broadway accessible

The Netherlands - Funktion-One kicks off the trade show calendar with its fourth appearance at ISE in Amsterdam. As the British loudspeaker manufacturer prepares for more product launches later in 2014, it reflects on the preceding year, which saw the introduction of the Bass Reflex (BR) Range, PSM318 DJ Monitor and the award-winning Modular Stadium Technology (MST) Horns.

MST Horns will play a crucial role in the sound reinforcement for the forthcoming Russian Winter Olympics in Sochi which commence the day after ISE closes. Sochi's Olympic Bobsleigh Track picked up Permanent Installation Project of the Year at the Pro Sound Awards 2013 and the Bolshoy Ice Dome, home to the Ice Hockey competition, features the largest MST deployment to date.

The large format MST loudspeaker range, which has been expanded to include different dispersion options, will be on show at ISE, togethe

USA - For the third consecutive year, all of the artists and bands who performed using in-ear monitors during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards used the Shure PSM 1000 Personal Monitor System.

Highlights from the evening included a number of Grammys presented to Shure endorsers. From Imagine Dragons' victory in the "Best Rock Performance" category and Kacey Musgraves' double win for "Best Country Song" and "Best Country Album" to Black Sabbath's success in the "Best Metal Performance" category, Shure endorsers were celebrated throughout the night by The Recording Academy.

In addition to the exclusive in-ear use of PSM 1000 for live performances, a combination of Shure SM58, BETA 58A, and KSM9 microphones were also selected by artists for their performances.

"It's always great to see so much Shure equipment on a big production like the

The Netherlands - As ISE 2014 prepared to open its doors, over 950 exhibitors were putting the finishing touches to their stands, helping to ensure that the 11th Integrated Systems Europe will be not just the largest tradeshow for professional AV and systems integration ever held in Europe, but also the brightest and the busiest, say the organisers.

The 2014 total of 952 exhibiting companies represents an increase of more than 6% on last year's figure, and over 200 of those companies are completely new to ISE, giving visitors a wealth of new business opportunities in every technology sector served by the event. The show will occupy more than 36,000 net square metres for the first time, while pre-registration also reached record levels.

Yet Mike Blackman, the event's managing director, believes the real story of ISE 2014 lies behind these impressive numbers. "This week we'

"We needed a higher channel count for the mixers installed on our mobile AV racks. We were looking around the analogue market as we couldn't believe there would be a digital mixer to fit a 19" rack, and then I saw the Qu-16 at Infocomm, where it won a Best In Show award," explains AV production manager, Derek Chalmers. "Qu-16 has everything we needed - 16 channels, built in processing, and recording facilities as we record all of our events. We've had them now for two months and they've been fantastic."

The mixers were supplied by Hertfordshire-based Mercury A
