While rental / production company Capital Sound were fielding no fewer than 170 enclosures at the perennial Proms in the Park (Hyde Park), over in the east at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Prince Harry inspired Jaguar Land Rover Invictus Games Closing Concert also featured MLA.

The five hour extravaganza combined a celebration of medallion presentations to the wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women who competed in the Games, backed by a full concert line up headlined by the Foo Fighters with supporting acts including Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding, Ryan Adams, Bryan Adams, The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks and James Blunt.

London-based rental company Capital Sound once again provided the audio infrastructure for the event, deploying their expanding network of Optocore X6R-FX interfaces to provide a fully redundant loop; this encompassed the ten delay positions as well as the VIP platform and covered veranda, all distributed from the FOH rack presided over by experienced system tech Toby Donovan.

Delivering seamless sound around the high temporary stands erected at Edinburgh Castle is always a challenge, as the weather can change from calm to very windy, from dry to thick fog or torrential rain in minutes. The show itself is very dynamic, with the audience seated around three sides - and the further rows and mix position high above - of the large courtyard in which the action takes place. Adding to the challenge is the backdrop of the castle itself, which is visually stunning, but provides a large, hard surface for slapback.
