Mahajak Trio spec’d and installed TSL Products’ MDU and PDU power solutions
Malaysia - When system integrator Mahajak Trio was given the job of upgrading the audio monitoring, advanced broadcast control and technical display applications for Radio Television Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, the company found the answer it was looking for with TSL Products. The project was led by 20-year industry veteran Lee Chin Kah, general manager for broadcast, Mahajak Trio Electronic. As a full-service provider, the Mahajak Trio team was able to offer a turnkey power and monitoring solution to the Malaysian public broadcaster.
“We turned to TSL Products because it is not only one of the most well-known and trusted brands on the market, but all of the audio monitoring tools available, such as comprehensive loudness monitoring, audio metering, phase metering and waveform, feature GUI and panel designs that are amazingly easy to work with,” says Lee. “All functions we need are inside the box and there are no additional tools required.”
As part of the project, Mahajak Trio spec’d and installed TSL Products’ MDU and PDU power solutions. The equipment provided all the necessary hardware and can handle all analogue, AES and Dante applications.
“In today’s cost-conscious and environmentally sensitive world, systems managers may now be required both to streamline maintenance and support teams, and to minimize energy consumption,” adds Lee. “These challenges call for a comprehensive solution that functions remotely over wide or local area networks and can provide both monitoring and control of systems and effective power management. TSL Products was able to deliver a solution that meets all of our needs.”
In addition to its power products, Lee and his team also installed TSL Products’ PAM2-IP-3G, PAM PiCo 5 audio and loudness monitoring software as well as the PAM PiCo Touch portable monitoring unit. “The source selection from the multitouch screen user interface on the front panel of these products helps operators to work more efficiently,” says Lee. “We have also added Dante cards to all the PAM2-IP-3G units, allowing us to route any signal from the Dante network to PAM2-IP for audio monitoring.”
Radio Television Malaysia has installed nearly 40 nodes of Dante devices, including TSL’s PAM2-IP.
“IP technology is getting more and more common for broadcast equipment and with TSL Products PAM2-IP, we are able to execute an efficient remote control workflow, configuring and managing signals via the TCP/IP network,” adds Lee. “This has helped us to improve our remote work capabilities, which has been especially beneficial throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, we received great support from the TSL team and we greatly appreciate that they are always readily available.”
