Belgium - Creative lighting, video and visual design specialist Painting with Light brought their imagination and flair to six special live recordings of popular Belgian comedy / impressionist TV show Tegen de Sterren Op, designing the set, lighting and visuals for producers Studio 100 and DEDS IT. To be broadcast on VTM, the action took place over three days at the 6000 capacity Lotto Arena in Antwerp.

The Painting with Light team was led by Luc Peumans, who has also designed set and lighting for the most recent series of Tegen de Sterren Op studio based shows.

Wanting to replicate key visual elements from the TV show, but enlarged to capture the scale of the arena sized production, the design featured a striking LED screen portal / pros arch measuring 8m high by 16m wide.

UK - Kingston University has purchased 60 Panasonic professional displays for a digital signage roll out across the university's five campus sites.

It follows the installation of 170 Panasonic PT-RZ370 laser/LED projectors within 119 lecture and seminar rooms in August 2014. This project is as a result of the strategic partnership between Kingston University and GV Multimedia.

The digital signage project includes 48 50-inch TH-50LFE7E displays, six 65-inch TH-65LFE7E and five 47-inch TH-47LF6W displays. There is also a single 80-inch TH-80LFC70, which the university will use for more efficient information sharing and wayfaring at the University.

Ireland - Working with international visual artist Simon Mckeown, PRG XL Video supplied a high brightness outdoor building projection and mapping system for a projection on to the College of Commerce at Union Quay in Cork, Ireland. This was done for a special arts event entitled Cork Ignite, on 18 September, in front of a large public audience who were wowed by the spectacle.

Mckeown, who also lectures in post-production and animation at Teesside University, was originally invited by the directors of the National Sculpture Factory and Create Ireland to meet with them in Cork to discuss the project. He proposed that they create an outdoor projection event to be held on Culture Night 2015.

UK - 'Projection mapping' has become an industry buzz word in the last couple of years and the Blackpool illuminations - among the world's most historic festivals of light is home to the first permanent projection mapped show in the UK, scheduled to run for the full two months / 66 day 'Illuminations' period each year from now on.

LightPool is a collaboration between London-based Ross Ashton and The Projection Studio who storyboarded and created the content, and Edinburgh based War Productions whose Alistair Young produced the technical design and supplied the hardware and control.

The two companies have worked together on previous projects, and Alistair suggested that he and Ross join forces to pool their extensive knowledge and experience of projection mapping monuments to answer a tender put out by Blackpool Council.
