UK - The Audio & Music Production course at Buckinghamshire New University has been awarded a three-year accreditation by JAMES - the Joint Audio Media Education Services Association.

JAMES is the education and accreditation arm of the APRS (Association of Professional Recording Services), UK Screen Association and the Music Producers Guild (MPG) and the course at Bucks is one of just 10 courses awarded accredited status in the UK.

Plaques confirming the award are now on display outside the University's audio and music production suites and outside the Students' Union's White Room venue at the University, in High Wycombe, Bucks.

Warren Bassett, course leader, audio production, said: "We are pleased to gain another endorsement that shows the growing industry links held by the Audio & Music Production degree at Bucks New University. It will benefit our students going in to the workplace being able to say that the degree they have has been accredited by a well-established professional body with a proven track record for excellence, high standards and relevance to the industry. This is an important development."

Frazer Mackenzie, head of the School of Applied Production & New Media, said the accreditation complemented the industry links already held by the University. He said, "JAMES is currently the only industry-recognised accreditation provider for audio and music production-related education and training in the UK.

"This provides a great seal of industry approval for the students on the degree programme, and it will also complement the growing range of formal industry support we already have from companies such as Sennheiser, Focusrite, Novation, and MIDAS Klark Teknik."
