Championing the system concept: d&b forges a partnership with AMX
Germany - d&b audiotechnik has championed the system concept since its very beginnings, acknowledging the benefits of the control and monitoring of loudspeaker systems for its users and listeners alike. So to further this endeavour towards a greater System reality, d&b has forged a partnership with AMX to provide even further choice when integrating systems within a media environment.

The ability to remotely control an audio installation from one central position has far greater advantages than just convenience. A large distributed audio system may have amplifiers in many different locations and the time it can take just to power them up and down without a remote system is substantial and can cut into precious time schedules. It is also significant in the first place to know that each element in the system is turned on and working. The d&b Remote network not only enables this control and monitoring but offers a multitude of additional functions such as volume, equalization and error messages.

In 2006 this functionality was extended even further when d&b joined Crestron's certified Integrated Partner programme, enabling the control of a host of additional functions on other media such as video and lighting. Now, with these new d&b media control modules for AMX, even greater freedom and choice is given to the operator providing hardware and software solutions that simplify the way people interact with technology.

"These modules make it easier and faster to program systems and allow many different devices to be controlled. This assists integrators who demand technologically advanced products, ease of use and simple, reliable installation," says Reiner Pes, general manager for AMX.

Marc Weber, d&b audiotechnik product manager, comments: "Following up on market demand for simplified integration of d&b loudspeaker systems into AMX control systems, we were excited by developing AMX modules. We believe that by supporting these additional media control systems, d&b's conviction in the System reality is extended even further providing the installation market and its integrators a larger selection of tools when using and specifying media control systems. We intend to develop our collaboration with other media control manufacturers in order to provide further macros."

The d&b Remote network protocol is openly available for other third party devices to be integrated, and further information on integration with the d&b Remote network is available at the web address below.
