The Design Museum has recently moved to its new home on Kensington High Street
UK - When newly opened Design Museum in Kensington, London played host to the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Award on Wednesday 30 November, technical production expert OneBigStar was on-hand to deliver lighting and sound for the prestigious event.

Interesting elements of the project included a tight window for loading in equipment and it being the first commercial event for the brand-new venue. With just one hour to install all the equipment required [the venue closed to the public at 6pm and the award guests began arriving at 7.15pm] stringent pre-planning was essential to the effective delivery of the event. Several site visits, careful kit selection and a well briefed and experienced team of technicians ensured the awards began on time.

The OneBigStar kit list for the project included a wide range of lighting and audio equipment, cabling and distribution, all from its extensive range of stock. Battery powered LED uplighters and large moving heads were used to project the event logo onto the walls and iconic curved ceiling, and also provided a colour wash to the venue's white walls.

PA equipment, in the form of Electro Voice speakers, were supplied to ensure the presentation was audible across all three floors and foyer in the venue. All equipment was pre-programmed, patched and tested before it was taken to site to ensure it could be 'plugged and played' on arrival, within the tight window.

The Design Museum has recently moved to its new home on Kensington High Street, Wednesday evening's Andrew Martin International Designer of the Year Award was the first commercial event held there and saw leading interior designers gathered to recognise winner, Nicky Haslam who has styled the homes of Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr and Rod Stewart.

Helena Prior, organiser of the awards commented on the service received from the OneBigStar team, "We've only heard positive things from all the press and guests that attended the event, including an amazing review in the Evening Standard. Thank you to you for all your help in making it such a success."
