Switzerland - Laserworld has announced the release of the new RTI PIKO RGB 11 Pure Diode as laser light system for high professional applications.

The PIKO RGB 11 PD has a guaranteed output power of 10W RGB after aperture and is equipped with diode laser sources only. This ensures a great, linear colour fading behaviour and makes the unit suitable for professional projections as well as for smooth beam shows. The compact PIKO-housing makes the PIKO RGB 11 PD suitable for touring applications, rentals as well as for fixed installations.

Australia - The Brolga Theatre in Queensland is the cultural entertainment heart of the Fraser Coast, with a first-class theatre and conference venue that attracts the finest international and national performers. The Brolga Theatre has recently implemented a complete turn-key audio system based on Meyer Sound's award-winning Ultra products.

Coordinated by Robert Haigh, operations technician at Brolga Theatre, with design assistance by Meyer Sound Australia, the system includes the UPQ-1P wide coverage and UPQ-2P narrow coverage point source loudspeakers complimented by UPA-1P's as in-fill and USW-1P subwoofers from the system originally install some 14 years ago.

Germany - Experienced production designer Cosmo Wilson fondly remembers the first time he used GLP impression fixtures: it was on AC/DC's 2008-2009 Black Ice Tour, where he lit the memorable giant train set-piece, an iconic element of the show. "I found that the saturation was stellar," he recalls. Prior to that he had been strictly a traditional 'PAR Can LD' - critical of the look of the early LED sources and throw distances.

Six years on, and with Foreigner and Styx embarking on a joint headline tour, LED technology has evolved a long way. For Foreigner's UK dates earlier in the year he deployed impression RZ120 Zoom to light the 'Foreigner' sign. This allowed him to make visual comparisons with his favoured conventional pars on his way to moving up to the impression X4 series - GLP's current touring workhorse.

Cambodia - Hang Meas HDTV in Cambodia has been using PR Lighting fixtures extensively to highlight artists appearing on their new hit talent show, The Voice Cambodia.

According to director and show producer, Oeng Sokly, this is the first series of the popular global programme to screen in the country, Hang Meas HDTV having purchased the licence from Talpa Global. Viewers tune in every Sunday to see who is voted through, while the show itself is in HMHDTV Studio at 4th floor, Aeon Mall, Phnom Penh - the first and biggest mall in Cambodia.

UK - Ed Sheeran, one of the most popular UK artists, recently ended his summer tour after 14 dates at the biggest European festivals. The singer used the same set on all dates, with AV equipment provided by Colonel Tom Touring LLC.

The stage was composed of four LED screens surrounding the singer to display graphics and content. To feed the screens, Barry Otto, owner of Colonel Tom Touring (CT Touring), selected Analog Way's NeXtage 16 (Ref. NTX1604), a powerful seamless video processor.

UK - The British Museum in London is dedicated to human history and culture. Its permanent collection, numbering some 8m works, is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.

So when lighting designer Philip Lyons of Lyons Photography & Lighting Design Installation was appointed to install a pack generator system into two of the museum's new photographic studios, he brought Doughty Engineering on board. UK - On October 14 Tate Modern's Turbine Hall opened its doors to the largest work ever created by renowned American sculptor Richard Tuttle. Entitled I don't know - the Weave of Textile Language, Tuttle's piece combines vast swathes of fabrics to create a massive winged sculpture. Weighing in at 25 tonnes and measuring 50m long, production manager Jim Leaver faced the challenge of how to suspend the artwork - not just safely over the heads of thousands of visitors, but also to create the illusion that the piece was floating effortlessly in the air.

Leaver, who was appointed by Tate Modern to oversee the construction of the exhibit, brought Unusual Rigging on board to help develop a solution and to fulfil Tuttle's idea that those visiting the exhibition should "...feel like they're in heaven".

Belgium - Every year, David Guetta visits Brussels to play one massive indoor concert. For the second year running, he has played to a capacity crowd of 16,000 at the Palais 12, using leading Belgian rental company Arto S.A and its substantial Nexo STM Series modular line array system, for the first time featuring the brand-new M28 down-fill modules.

Russia - The annual Car-Fest event in Samara, Russia, draws enthusiasts from all over the country for three days of everything car-related, from modern and classic auto shows to fast-paced motorsport competitions. This year's event in August also featured high octane open air concerts by famous DJs, where ETC's Cobalt 20 desk was in the driver's seat to control the lighting.

The Cobalt desk was designed to make busking in live concert environments a breeze. For Car-Fest, head lighting designer Evgeniy Toma used the desk to control a rig of moving lights, LED par cans, strobes and strip lights. USA - Successful TV producers have a knack for spotting and locking up budding talent, be it a performer, writer, designer or other creative type. Nothing out of the ordinary about that - but it is highly unusual when the 'talent' that's tapped is a lighting fixture. Such was the case recently on the set of Bet on Your Baby, when the show's producers told lighting director Adam Portelli that they wanted to include the Nexus 4x4 panels in the next project they did together.

USA - The Linq Resort by Caesars Entertainment altered the Las Vegas skyline when it completed the world's tallest observation wheel. The High Roller, shaped like a giant floating hoop, now rises above the cityscape of Las Vegas, illuminated from sunset throughout the night by fixtures from Martin Professional's Tripix range of products.

Commissioned by Caesars Entertainment in 2009 with an overall vision to change the Las Vegas skyline with a new iconic landmark, construction on the world's tallest observation wheel began. On the lighting side of this extravagant architectural project, NYXdesign teamed up with Martin Professional, systems integrator 4Wall Entertainment and electrical contractors Bombard Electric.

Czech Republic - The O2 Arena in Prague is the latest large-format multipurpose venue to embrace Nexo's Geo S12-ST sound reinforcement systems, high-output long-throw loudspeakers developed specially for stadium and arena use.

Built for the 2004 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships, the O2 Arena is home to the HC Slavia Praha and HC Lev Praha ice hockey teams and also hosts a range of other sporting and corporate events and concerts.

The venue needed to replace its existing PA system installed 10 years ago, a point source system that was, by the venue's own admission, under-specified and under-powered.
