The Architects of Time is an all-day venue combining food and drinks with art and music
Greece - In the neighbourhood around the 11th century Byzantine church of Agioi Theodoroi in central Athens is a newly renovated Art Deco building well known by locals as once owned by the internationally acclaimed composer and musician Vangelis.
Inherited by the Chariots of Fire composer following the death of his father, the building was until recently occupied mainly by offices and law firms, with an arcade of shops on the ground floor. Now, following the passing of Vangelis, the building has been renovated by new owners, with the ground floor, arcade and basement leased to a group of mostly local musicians, DJs and club operators, all fans of Vangelis and eager to pay tribute to the spirit of the musician.
Named after a watchmaking shop that had occupied the building for many years, The Architects of Time is an all-day venue combining good food and drinks with art and music. With frequent art exhibitions and sets from guest DJs, a powerful high quality sound system is clearly as important to the Architects of Time as its world-class wine cellar and signature cocktails.
“The owners already operate three other venues, all equipped with PS Series, so they know well what a Nexo sound system is capable of,” comments Michalis Asitzoglou, co-founder of local Nexo distributor IMA Audio Lighting.
“With the new Nexo ePS system now available, we were able to design and install a high-performance system on a relatively tight budget for The Architects of Time.”
The system comprises six wall-mounted ePS8s with a compact eLS400 sub on the floor extending LF response down to 45Hz. Processing comes from Nexo’s DTD-I controller and amplification from just one DTDAMP4X0.7, delivering four 700W from a single unit of rack space.
The ePS Series builds on Nexo’s PS Series point source speaker range to create a ‘no frills’, IP55-rated loudspeaker range that makes Nexo engineering and performance accessible to a wider range of projects.
“Visiting DJs are very complimentary about the ePS system at The Architects of Time,” says Michalis in conclusion. “It’s easy for them to connect and there’s plenty of power and headroom to create a real party atmosphere.”
