Australia - When rock star Jimmy Barnes took to the stage at Star City Showroom recently, the impact of his performance was significantly enhanced by the country's most advanced lighting design, a suite of some 24 show lights from Clay Paky's range. The Clay Paky product was recently installed by Total Concept Projects, the exclusive distributor of Clay Paky product in Australia. Star City's general entertainment services manager Bicci Henderson comments: "The impact of the new lighting on the Jimmy Barnes show was fantastic, with very startling colour saturation and vibrancy. It is Australia's most stunning show lighting system."

Commenting on the lighting set-up, he says: "The lighting set-up was so good that the Barnes' producers just walked in and did the show without having to move a thing. It was great!" Henderson continues: "The Clay Paky lighting is very impressive and has come a long way in performance terms from what we have seen from this company before. It's more user-friendly, durable and flexible, and can be used for anything from a rock concert to musical or theatre performances." Star City will be using the lighting for such exciting acts as the TCB band (original Elvis Presley Band), Björn Again and 'Shoosh', the Glynn Nichols stage production from Melbourne.

Project director from Total Concept Projects, Daniel Butler comments: "We installed some 24 lights in key positions around the theatre along with a high-tech control console. This has the advantage of allowing the technical people at Star City to both manually and automatically control the lighting."

The Clay Paky fixtures used in the installation included the new Alpha Discovery range. There were 10 of the new 575W washlights, distinguished by their powerful zoom, colour mixing and very fashionable Congo blue colour. There were also 10 575W spotlights, all from Clay Paky's new product range. Features include three gobo wheels, a dimmer function that fades out rather than cuts out, a graphic wheel which creates multiple effects as it spins and a zoom function - the biggest in the market. There were also four1200W Profile Plus lights, noted for their ability to frame objects either manually or automatically. The controller console enables the lights to be programmed ahead of time and controlled remotely, removing the need for technicians to make adjustments on the lights themselves.
