Mackie Designs has announced that the latest software upgrade for its DX8 mixer/processor is now available for distribution in European markets. From October, all DX8s shipped will include Version 2.0 software featuring Mackie’s exclusive MIMIC auto-mixing technology. In addition, existing DX8 owners will be able to download the new software with MIMIC auto-mixing free from Mackie’s website.

Version 2.0 with MIMIC technology was first shown at the NSCA Expo in Denver, Colorado last April. MIMIC adds a number of key automation features to the signal processing capabilities of the DX8, including: dynamic gate threshold based on ambient noise; continuously variable off attenuation from 0 to 60dB; continuously variable automatic level control from 0 to 30dB on each input and output; selectable gate release times for each input; selectable maximum number of NOM inputs and input exclusion; last-Mic-On or force one input On options.

In addition, the new software permits all of the automation parameters to be individually selected and adjusted for each of the two mix busses. This feature permits each mix to be configured precisely for the application and offers two discreet automixers in one package. Several other enhancements have been added with version 2.0, including individual input compressors and an upgrade of the input EQ from two to three bands.

Mackie has also announced the availability of new V3.0 software for its flagship installation product, the DX810. The DX810 combines Mackie’s DX8 matrix mixer with the DX10e expansion card, which was announced late last year. The new software now ships with all new DX810 products worldwide and is also available as a free upgrade from Mackie’s website.

Shown for the first time at the NSCA show in Denver, Colorado last April, the new software adds key features that further enable contractors to design and implement complex systems with minimal setup and programming time. Key features included with version 3.0 include: true room combining capability (up to 16 combinations); program select function from remotes, logic inputs or through the GUI; variable transition rates between presets (user defined); expanded parametric EQ to 8-bands per output; added Bessel alignment to revised crossover windows; mute/enable logic for each input, output and group; two new password security levels; direct access to individual processors from the processing indicator window; expanded remote control capabilities; expanded logic input and output features; faster up/downloads to and from the host PC.

Mackie can be found on stand E52.
