USA - St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hampton, Iowa, was dealing with a problem familiar to many churches: their existing sound system was simply not adequate. The layout of the church's sanctuary did the system no favours, with a tall ceiling and lots of glass causing any number of reverberations, making speech intelligibility and clear music nearly impossible.

Several attempts were made to improve the system's performance, but these tries amounted to little more than "band-aids" according to Mark Carey, president/owner of Spencer, Iowa-based Carey's Electronics. Eventually, a consensus was reached among the church's leadership and members that a permanent solution was in order, and Carey and his team were selected to spec different options for the system, all of which revolved around products from Bose Professional Systems. Carey and the church eventually dec

South Africa - East Coast Radio's Durban Day was a huge hit with a sensational line up including The Kickstands, Toya Delazy, Zakes Bantwini, Lira, Mango Groove, Prime Circle, MiCasa and Goldfish. The show, which attracted around 14 000 people, was hosted at the People's Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium, and the full technical was awarded to Insane Sound.

The largest contender at this show was the weather. The stage included a 10 x 8m Prolyte Roof and in the afternoon a gust threatened to stop the show. "I can't emphasise how big it was," said Rawjee.

Insane Sound had their safety infrastructure in place including large water ballasts for the roof. "We had to take off the sides of the stage while the band kept playing," said Rawjee. The wind howled into the microphones, but it actually sounded like an effect, say organisers. By the time the main artists were per

On one of the jobs, four TP10s, 2x SP121 subs and a pair of IF06 in-fill speakers were all run from one of Miltec's MA472 amps. The MA472 is a lightweight multi-channel amp, delivering 4x 750WRMS into 4Ohms.
