Russia - Christie reports that its projectors have been deployed at the 31st Moscow Film Festival (MIFF). Christie worked with Moscow based Kinoproekt - the largest cinema equipment integrator in Russia, the exclusive supplier to the MIFF.

The release heralds several new features including new HD-SDI and DVI options, colour correction and support for Matrox's Dual and Triple Head To Go output extenders. UK - Automation experts Kinesys designed and supplied the bespoke motion control system that moves and shapes the 'transforming' video screen for U2's 360° world tour.

The system consists of 40 Kinesys Evo zero-speed chain hoists and eight custom built winches, all controlled by their K2 3D software control package.

Kinesys' Dave Weatherhead comments: "This was the heaviest, most complex and interconnected system we have undertaken to date, with 48 motors following unique motion profiles to allow the deployment of over 52 tonnes of video screen."

The five days of production rehearsals at Sun City Superbowl was followed by one show there and another at Cape Town's Grand West Casino. The project was managed for Gearhouse by Michael Lewis, and their teams worked very closely with R Kelly's lighting designer Nook Schoenfeld and FOH sound engineer Rob 'Cubby' Colby.

Austria - On 2 May, the Tyrolean ski resort of Ischgl marked the end of the winter season with its annual Top of the Mountain concert. This year it was the turn of Kylie Minogue to entertain an audience of 18,000 in the open air at an altitude of 2,320mamid the spectacular mountain scenery of the Idalp, whilst Global Bright Media of Vienna was commissioned by the Poznau Tourist Association to provide media equipment for the event.
