World - Industry response to WYSIWYG R29, the new version of CAST Software's pre-visualisation suite, has been overwhelming, with professionals hailing the release a triumph for productivity and accuracy in event design, says the company.

R29 was released to members only earlier this month and quickly received widespread commendation for the variety of new features that expand the software's potential. Particular attention has paid to the breakthrough Six Degrees of Freedom Camera and Shaded View Selection - next gen functionality acknowledged as having the power to help WYSIWYG professionals 'raise their game'.

The addition of another three degrees of freedom to the WYSIWYG cameras is of importance because it means the orientation of the camera is no longer restricted to a slig

UK - Artistic Licence Engineering will be launching dVnet, its digital video-to-network converter, at LuxLive 2012 (Earls Court 6-7 November) . Following a preview earlier this year, the full power of dVnet will be shown to remarkable effect on stand J02, where it will be driving a new display/lighting medium.

The latest addition to ALE's Rack Pack range, dVnet is aimed squarely at retail and architectural applications in which a media facade or light sculpture is to be controlled by video, and the complexity of a media server is not required.

dVnet is all a light artist needs to convert a video creation to light. The digital video input is in HDMI format. Configuration is simplicity itself, with less than ten mouse-clicks required to render video to a media wall.

dVnet can also playback any video clip manually loaded onto its internal hard drive, or via the incorporated pla

Germany - Robe moving lights were utilised on the Main and Gemini Stages at the 2012 Melt Festival, one of the most highly rated indie electronica-meets-rock festivals in Europe.

The event is staged amidst the stunning environs of the Ferropolis peninsula, Gräfenhainichen, an open air museum featuring a selection of giant 20th century industrial machines, like coal mining diggers, that provide a unique skyline.

Lighting equipment for the Main and Gemini stages was supplied by Berlin based TSE AG.

Their brief for the production lighting design was to create rigs that were very flexible and could cater for the vast array of bands and DJs performing over the three days, many of which brought their own lighting designers and specials packages and also hooked in to the 'house' rigs.

TSE AG decided to spec Robe as it is one of the premium brands in their rental inventory, and b
