UK - Black Light's 2013 Open Day saw over 200 people and over 30 companies come together for a very successful trade show. The annual event, which took place on the 15th of March, was also an opportunity to celebrate the success of Black Light, which was founded by Gavin Stewart thirty years ago.

"The Open Day went really well," said Black Light's Head of Company Development, Phil Haldane. "We got more people through the door than ever before, had an excellent range of exhibitors, met lots of old friends and said hello to many new faces."

The Open Day was an opportunity for lighting, sound and stage professionals from across Scotland to meet with product manufacturers. Among the innovative new products on demonstration were the ilumo range of LED Spots (which are designed and manufactured in the UK by Lumonic Ltd). Among the companies that exhibited were Avolites, Robe, KinoFlo, ARRI, Shure Distribution and, for the first time at a Black Light Open Day, Sennheiser.

"We were very impressed with the Trade Show that Black Light organised," said Mike Edwards from Lumonic, which was also a first time exhibitor at the Open Day. "Phil Haldane and his team worked incredibly hard and that hard work certainly paid off. From Lumonic's point of view we had the opportunity to present at one of the Company presentation slots and importantly demo our light units in front of very knowledgeable people from Scotland's lighting industry. For us it was very worthwhile."

As in previous years, the event featured a wide range of exhibitor stands at which visitors were able to talk to manufacturers and suppliers and see products 'in the flesh'. It was a great chance for everyone to come and see the hottest new equipment in action, quiz the experts and, of course, meet friends and colleagues.

The Open Day was brought to a close with an evening event celebrating the company's 30th Anniversary. This was also a great success.

Black Light's Open Day is now established as a key event for anyone in the Scottish AV, sound, lighting and stage industry. The company is now looking forward to welcoming everyone back in 2014.
