Germany - Professional loudspeaker systems manufacturer Fohhn Audio will preview a range of new products at Prolight and Sound in Frankfurt. Taking centre stage this year are the latest modular additions to the company's flagship Linea Focus electronically steerable line array series, along with a new active cardioid subwoofer.

Fohhn's successful Linea Focus series is to be extended with the addition of two high-power, electronically steerable modular systems: an active, high-frequency module containing 16 x 1" compression drivers, Waveguide and horn, and an active low-mid module with 32 x 4" long excursion speakers. The compact modules can be freely combined and cascaded, enabling the construction of high performance systems with 48, 80 or even 112 speakers. The modules are particularly suited to large venues with challenging acoustics due to their unobtrusive appearance and excellent reproduction of both speech and music, says the company.

Fohhn's new active subwoofer features the capability to electronically adjust its directivity characteristics using DSP technology, offering cardioid, super-cardioid and figure eight patterns. A further feature is the ability to dampen sound coming from the rear of the unit via an adjustable 180 degree attenuation. Cardioid characteristic DSP presets and installation documentation will also be available for existing Fohhn subwoofers.

Other Fohhn products to be previewed at Prolight + Sound include the LX-10 4/1" coaxial compact loudspeaker system, a new Linea Series LX-220 loudspeaker with 18 x 4" speakers and 2 x 1" compression drivers with Waveguide, plus the latest D-4.1200 (4 x 1200W / 4 ohm) DSP-controlled digital amplifier. Fohhn's new FreeStand X and XI designer stands for existing Linea Focus systems will also be on show.
