UK - The story behind the re-launch of UK live event health and safety provider Stagesafe is one that could happen to any of us, at any time. In 2012, after nearly 35 years in event production and health & safety management, Stagesafe founder Chris Hannam began his struggle against cancer. The award-winning pioneer whose contributions to live production include introducing the risk assessment concept, as well as numerous other major safety initiatives, Hannam had previously been plagued by a string of illnesses, and soldiered on through all of them. But his cancer diagnosis slammed on the brakes.

He says, "As I was losing my strength, both physically and mentally, my business began to suffer. Being unable to travel meant that work became increasingly difficult to the point where I had to stop. Losing clients affected my income so acutely that I've almost been living on thin air. Thankfully, after chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I have received the all-clear and I can't wait to get back to the business I love."

Hannam has been using his recovery time wisely. Aware that Stagesafe's business image was looking old and tired, Hannam partnered with Liveculture Group's Mark Cunningham and webmaster Sean Miller who, together, breathed new life into the website [www.stagesafe.co.uk], as well as creating a rugged new logo and other graphical content, and re-editing text.

"After hearing my story, Mark was very keen to help get my business back on its feet," says Hannam. "Although he was working with just a modest budget, Mark gave the job his full attention, transforming the previous dreary image into something that I think is much more reflective of the business we're in today.

"Of the back of the fresh, new image, I now just want the opportunity to return to work and apply my experience to some interesting projects. This industry is very important to me and I consider many of the people in it to be 'my family' as well as friends."
