Jagiellonian University in Kracow is Poland's largest university
Poland - Jagiellonian University in Kracow is Poland's largest university and one of the oldest and most celebrated academic institutions in the world. Founded in 1364 as Studium Generale, the university - named after Poland's Jagiellonian dynasty - numbers Nicolaus Copernicus and Pope John Paul II among its alumni. Since August, a number of new sound systems have been installed in a variety of the university's lecture and concert halls.

The Kracow and Wroclaw-based branches of Tommex Zebrowscy Sp. J. were responsible for the design of the sound systems. In the case of the Kotlownia lecture and exhibition hall, the firm's specialists attached particular importance to finding a loudspeaker system capable of delivering both a very high level of intelligibility and precise control. They opted for a solution featuring equipment from Dynacord.

VariLine VL 262W two-way loudspeakers were selected to provide even coverage in the balcony area of the lecture hall. "The appearance of the equipment played a role," explains Tomasz Boron of Tommex. "We and our client were anxious not to spoil the elegant interior of the hall by installing obtrusive loudspeakers. We wanted them to blend with the interior decor, which the VL 252W certainly does, and all while delivering superlative audio quality into the bargain."

Remote control and power are provided by a Dynacord DSA 8410 power amplifier equipped with an RCM-810 IRIS-Net module. The sound system processor chosen was a Dynacord DSP 600. "The DSA 8410 multi-channel power amplifier is responsible for driving the entire system," explains Boron, "This was a critical choice because on the one hand we wanted to supply installed loudspeakers with as much power as possible and to achieve the finest sound quality, whilst on the other hand we wanted to align with the client's request to limit the total amount of system components."
