KV2 Audio's new Classic Symphony loudspeaker
UK - KV2 Audio's Classic Series has evolved from a common belief among classical and jazz musicians that speaker systems dramatically colour and tarnish a performance. This is particularly noticeable in the reduction of the extreme dynamics found in live classical music and the lack of real high frequency, instead adding a distortion which creates a harsh brash sound for many instrumental, choral or vocal performances. This effect often worsens as the signal becomes more complex, loosing intricate details of the composition in favour of an increasingly cacophonic noise floor.

During a year of testing, KV2 invited over 300 performers to come and experience the effect of listening to their chosen instrument through the Classic Series in a concert hall environment. The results were "phenomenal", says the company.

Consisting of two models, the smaller Sonata and the larger Symphony, with their associated tri-amplified stereo electronic control packs, the KV2 Audio Classic Series features Super Analogue components throughout and Super Acoustic transducer designs.

The acoustic cabinets are optimised for classical and jazz performance and finished in standard black, optional Gloss black Piano finish or polished wood. The Classic Series is as much a part of the performance as the musicians themselves. Suitable for concert halls or jazz clubs of between 100 and 2500 people the classic series from KV2 Audio finally offers a true musical solution to the enjoyment of classical music on a grand scale, adds the company.

In a further step towards providing the finest audio solutions for classical music, KV2 Audio along with Petrof have developed the Active Grand Piano Lid.

The Active Grand Piano Lid features three built-in microphones as well as an ultra high quality Super Analogue microphone pre-amplification unit. The microphones are fitted on flexible mountings within the grand piano's lid that isolates the audio pick up from unwanted vibrations and noise. Two of the microphones provide a stereo image of the piano's performance whilst the third microphone provides an overall spectral balance picking up only the pure, direct sound from the soundboard.

The preamplification unit features KV2 Audio's VHD (Very High Definition) Line Drivers on each output ensuring the lowest possible loss of signal on cable runs up to 500m. It also features a presence switch for applications when the piano is required to 'cut-though' the mix. The unit is fitted with standard female XLR outputs and powered by Phantom Power from the mixing desk or from an external power supply.
