The partnership between the two companies started at RDM plug fest two years ago
Europe - The new Philips ArenaVision LED is a lighting fixture dedicated for sports and multifunctional lighting applications. The unit brings a maximum design flexibility and high level of light quality, with no flicker effect in television application. Philips and Luminex worked together to bring an exclusive way to control and monitor these fixtures, offering maximum flexibility in switching between different types of events.

The partnership between the two companies started at RDM plug fest two years ago, and resulted in an agreement between both companies to share ideas and know-how. Luminex could bring its expertise in the entertainment market, and network based lighting control solutions.

A bespoke solution based on its Ethernet-DinMX4 and LumiNet Monitor V2 software was developed to provide advanced RDM monitoring, and easy to use merged control for the on tour lighting designers, who would like to integrate the LED stadium lighting in their own light show.

The system also brings a new way of commissioning such LED installations, to make the installer's job easier. Based on Luminex's experience in RDM monitoring, the commissioning system relies on Luminet Monitor V2 which offers several tools to report all the necessary information from the RDM lighting fixtures.

Moreover, the Ethernet-DinMX4 converters are fitted with a custom profile which helps the installer to easily identify where valid DMX is available on the lighting control network. The converters take a major role in merging external lighting control data with the stadium lighting controller. This makes a unique solution that offers true flexibility for all kind of events the stadium can accomodate.

Luminex also brought their feedback and ideas during the RDM implementation of the Philips LED driver.

After a successful pilot at the basketball arena in Bourg-en-Bresse in France, the Sint Truiden stadium in Belgium was the second location in the world, and the first football stadium, to receive the complete LED and monitoring solution. A third stadium on the list showing confidence in the system, was the Chelsea stadium in U.K , which counts as a major benchmark for the success of this innovative lighting solution.

Bart Swinnen, Luminex CEO comments, "We're thrilled to be part of this project, as this is the very first use of LED lighting for such applications. A Philips ArenaVision LED is extremely powerful, and a true game changer for stadium and outdoor lighting. We're delighted Philips choose our solution for their project, and we're excited about all the other upcoming projects on the list. Also, we're looking forward to see the very first show on tour using this system with their lighting rig."
