UK - The MMF (Music Managers' Forum) has announced its partnership as Associate Member with JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) to accredit university courses that include Music Management.

It has long been an MMF ambition to evaluate academic courses that follow on from their already successful Induction Days and Management Development programmes. Over the past three years the MMF Education Committee led by Jim Thomas had refined two documents; the 'Managers Code of Practice' and 'A Framework for Education and Training'. When deciding on how to implement this framework, it became apparent that JAMES over recent years, had developed the systems required in this area. As an Associate Member working together with JAMES, the MMF can now ensure that JAMES Accredited Music Management courses offer content to the student that is appropriate, engaging and up to date.

Jim Thomas from the MMF comments, "It's important to know that course content is up-to-date and will give you the right start in the music industry. Working with JAMES, the MMF aims to ensure that students who want to develop a career in music management get the right skills, at the right time to help them understand what they need to do to be successful. We look forward to building a long term partnership with JAMES that drives forward education standards in music management, business and being entrepreneurial."

Phil Harding, JAMES Chair adds, "I am delighted to welcome the MMF as an Associate Member of JAMES. Our established Industry Accreditation scheme will benefit tremendously from the input of MMF and their members. A number of MMF representatives will be trained to become assessors for our Course Accreditation visits, allowing the JAMES scheme to be taken up by more Music Business and Entrepreneurial courses throughout the UK. I'd like to thank Jim Thomas and Jon Webster for their co-operation."
