UK - Robbie Wilson, former head of operations at Gallowglass Ltd, and previous owner of his own event staging and barrier production company, has joined Elstree Light and Power (ELP) as special projects manager.

This new position has been created specifically to develop First Facilities - a service brand within the ELP group which will specialize in the design, manufacture and operation of custom-built solutions to mobile event problems. "Robbie has over 30 years’ experience within events, including a successful career as a tour manager in the live concert and production industry," explains ELP MD Ronan Willson. "He is the ideal man for the job and I am delighted that he has come on board."

The company is not intent on becoming another staging/rigging/event management brand, but is aiming to supply those specialist companies in each field with fully tested and meticulously maintained equipment when they need something unusual or when their own stocks are depleted during busy periods. The company can now supply mobile production vehicles, specialist stage vehicles, mobile studio offices, bespoke CAD-designed structures, custom-designed trussing and ground-support systems.

First Facilities has already developed a ‘pack flat’ mobile studio for ITV sports coverage of Formula One, mobile production vehicles for business broadcaster CNBC, merchandise vehicles and a car display stand for McLaren sponsors Mobil 1 and broadcast vehicles for coverage of the World Rally Championships. "We are currently developing a number of LED screen support structures for major UK events," adds Wilson. "The market response so far has been excellent and we look forward to a very busy year."
