The new Orbital team: (Front) Chris Headlam & Luke Hyde, (Back) William Addison, Eric Simpson & Tom Byrne
UK - Orbital Sound has announced a series of corporate developments, as the company prepares for the autumn season. Orbital has created three new directorships, evolving its management structure with internal promotions for William Addison as technical director, Tom Byrne as sales director, and Eric Simpson as director of live event & communications.

In June, Orbital achieved ISO 9001 certification, as the culmination of a two-year programme to initiate quality management systems throughout the organisation. Thirdly, Orbital is cementing its focus on the wider European sound rental market with the opening of a European support office this autumn.

MD Chris Headlam comments, "Orbital has earned a reputation for being a genuinely dynamic live sound company, and that involves never standing still and watching the grass grow! We have a fantastic team of people - nearly 40 at the current time - and have always believed in a policy of internal promotion. The new directorships reflect this, highlighting the structure we have been evolving to make ourselves more efficient and professional at every level. This has also been the rationale behind the gruelling ISO 9001 process.

"With regard to Europe, we have been steadily building our client base outside the UK, as a world-class company capable of delivering the very best rental service and support. Our ongoing projects in Holland reflect this, particularly after winning the business for Mary Poppins, and most recently, We Will Rock You!, and we are evolving a new support structure in recognition of this. Orbital is well and truly ready for the new season, and stronger than ever on all counts! It is certainly going to be the start of another exciting era for us."

In addition to the three new directors, Orbital has also expanded its sales operation in line with its new distributorships, including the ABTT Award-winning Da-Cappo Micro Microphones range. Charlie Garrick has been promoted to project manager in the live event & communications division, and Theo Holloway has added Orbital's growing complement of Noise@Work projects to his ever-expanding remit of exciting training activities.
