UK - Orbital Sound is showing a wide cross-section from its portfolio of international pro audio brands on Stand No: E01 at PLASA Focus in Glasgow, from 2-3 December.

On show for the first time at a trade show in the UK is the d&b audiotechnik Y-Series range, offering improved overall sonic performance, increased SPL headroom across the 6-model line-up. Also making its debut is the new Nemesis UMT-2Di multi-button and MIDI-USB Converter, the latest addition to the growing range of theatre-specific audio playback and control solutions. Flare Audio's latest loudspeaker designs are on show in Scotland for the first time - including the X2A Compact Vertical Point Source system, the X0A Micro Delay speaker - complemented by the PLASA Award-winning SB Series Flat Panel Bass speakers.

The emphasis for PLASA Focus is on providing expert guidance on product selection, with Orbital Sound's project engineers on hand to share their knowledge of using the equipment in the field. Carefully selected additions to the show line-up include the Meyer Sound Mina compact curvilinear array loudspeaker range, the newest addition to the Milo family that offers a very small footprint and narrow width while still producing up to 128dB SPL. From L'Acoustics, Orbital Sound is showing the Kiva compact modular line source speaker, designed to offer a flexible, lightweight solution for both installation and rental applications.

On the communications front, visitors can check out the recently introduced Clear-Com FreeSpeak II system, which was most recently deployed on the new West End musical Memphis. It is capable of being deployed as a standalone wireless system, with a single 1RU base station supporting up to 20 digital wireless beltpacks, or as an integrated wireless solution with the advanced Eclipse HX Matrix System. Also on show is the Helixnet Digital Wired intercom system, and the Tempest Digital Wireless solution - demonstrating Clear-Com's complete system approach for advanced communications requirements.

The d&b Y-Series represents the company's next generation of flexible and compact reinforcement tools with high directivity, combined with reduced size and weight. The range comprises two point source models, the Y7P and the Y10P, and two line array models, the Y8 and Y12. All models utilise two 8" LF drivers and a 1.4" HF driver. There are two sub options - the Y-SUB that can be flown or ground stacked, and the B6 Sub, which is for ground stacked applications only.

Flare Audio's extensive range of radically different loudspeaker designs is based on the theory of Waveform Integrity, designed to create sonically invisible loudspeakers that neither add nor detract from the clarity of sound produced by the driver. Orbital Sound is teaming up with Flare Audio to run two special demonstration days (15 December and 5 January) at The Wimbledon Theatre, where they will be putting the X2A, X0A and Q18 subs through their paces.

The Nemesis UMT-2Di is a standalone solution for the complex external control requirements of theatrical control and playback software, including QLAB, CSC, SFX, SCS, Sony Vegas and similar packages. Manufactured in a rugged hard-wearing box, the UMT-2Di features two large integrated buttons and a high quality rotary encoder for easy access to standard Go, Stop, Previous and Next commands, for a complete "all in one" solution. It is the latest addition to the expanding Nemesis range of show control hardware, which was created to address the need for powerful, reliable and flexible show control and audio playback solutions within the challenging theatre and live entertainment environments.

Widely deployed on West End and touring shows, the latest CSC Theatrical/Live Sound Show Control Software package enables extremely complex performances to be controlled seamlessly, tying together all aspects of live sound control and making it a highly popular choice with sound designers around the world.
