Orbital installs sound system in London's 229 Club
UK - Orbital Sound reports strong sales to the UK club scene, including new systems to London's 229 Club in Great Portland Street, and Brighton's Concorde 2. In London, 229 Club has invested in a substantial new sound system, designed around d&b audioteknik's Q1 line array complemented by Digidesign's recently launched SC48 mixing console, for its 620-capacity main room. In Brighton, Concorde 2 has extended its top-end sound system with the addition of the compact Digidesign Venue Mix Rack System, comprising the Venue Profile console and all-in-one Venue Mix Rack processing and I/O component.

Since opening in 2007, 229 has established itself as one of the UK's leading small to medium-sized venues, attracting acts such as Primal Scream, Keane, Gnarls Barkley and Razorlight. 229 came to Orbital Sound in early 2009, looking for a high quality and reliable sound system that delivered a great sound.

Venue manager Stuart Ellerker comments: "We have always prided ourselves on being at the forefront of changing technology, aiming to provide a unique listening environment to our customers. The venue is now three years old, and we felt it was time to invest in a new, high-end system, with d&b audioteknik being a strong contender from the outset. With Orbital's help and expertise, we have achieved an excellent result - the new system sounds great, and it was a very smooth, neat installation."

Orbital's Tom Byrne worked closely with Stuart Ellerker, and head of sound, Alessandro Bonifacio, to design the optimum sound system. The d&b Q1 line array was rapidly identified as providing the best combination of performance, flexibility and durability for the main PA system. This is complemented by the high output d&b J-Series subs, together with the compact d&b Max12s, plus d&b C7sub and C4top drum-fills for the stage monitor system. System control is via the d&b R1 Remote Control software.
