The Innovation Gallery, sponsored by LSi magazine, is where visitors to PLASA 2011 will be able to view all the products nominated for this year's Innovation Awards.
UK - PLASA Events Ltd, organisers of PLASA 2011 (11-14 September, Earls Court, London) have announced the launch of this year's PLASA Awards for Innovation, which this year will include the newly named Sustainability Award - and of the 2011 Gottelier Award nomination process.

The PLASA Awards for Innovation always draw a great deal of interest from visitors to the PLASA Show, who can view all of the nominees in the specially designed 'Innovation Gallery', which will this year again be situated near the Earls Court 2 entrance to the Show. Independently judged by a panel of industry experts from lighting, audio, video and rigging & staging specialist backgrounds, the PLASA Awards for Innovation are one of the most prestigious product Awards in the business. The judges will again have eight product awards at their disposal, with the option to award a 'Gold' to a product or products which particularly stands out.

This year sees the introduction of the Sustainability Award. Each product successfully nominated for the Innovation Awards will also be considered for the additional Sustainability Award. For this, the panel of Judges will be looking for a product which best demonstrates at least one of the following attributes: Significant reduction of power usage for its product type/application; Effective use of renewable energy sources; Significant reduction of environmental impact of product lifecycle.

This year all nominees will make a presentation on their product to one of the two judging panels on the exhibitor's stand. All the presentations will be recorded and the winning ones will be replayed at The Innovation Gallery throughout the show and will also be made available on the PLASA Show and LSI Online websites following PLASA 2011.

2011 Gottelier Award

The process to find the winner of the 2011 Gottelier Award is also now underway. Named in honour of the late Tony Gottelier, the industry innovator and commentator who passed away in 2006, the Gottelier Award is aimed at those members of the industry who have made "significant and sustained contributions to the advancement of entertainment, presentation or installation technology - whether in audio, lighting, rigging, staging, or any other related field". Last year's winner was Fred Foster of ETC.

The nomination period is now open, until Friday 29 July at 12.00 midday UK time. Following this, the shortlist of nominees will be made available for voting. Voting in the Gottelier Award is restricted to the 1100+ PLASA Members, to PLASA Show exhibitors and to pre-registered visitors for PLASA 2011.

The winners of all the 2011 PLASA Awards will be announced at the presentation ceremony at 6pm on Monday 12 September at the PLASA Bar.
