UK - The 4th annual PLASA Rigging Conference is proud to announce that it will be supported by major sponsors for the first time, cementing its growing reputation as an essential event for the industry. Unusual Rigging becomes the Platinum sponsor while Outback Rigging is on board as the Gold sponsor. The PLASA Rigging Conference takes place on 7-8 October 2013 at its new home, ExCeL London.

Unusual's managing director, Alan Jacobi, said, "Rigging is a key element of almost every event, with its ever increasing scale, size, weight and complexity making a considerable impact, but the consequences of getting it wrong can be disastrous. Conferences such as this are vital in ensuring we continue to debate and improve working practices and Unusual is proud to be this year's Platinum sponsor."

Robin Elias of Unusual Rigging, one of the rigging industry's leading and longest-serving practitioners, will give the keynote speech which will illustrate the challenges and rewards of working as a rigger.

Mark Surtees, managing director, Outback Rigging, said, "We are pleased to be a Gold sponsor for this year's PLASA Rigging Conference. It's the best opportunity for riggers and rigging companies from far and wide to discuss ideas and challenge engineers, safety professionals and policy makers. As a result we can inspire research, improve standards and continue the process of developing the rigging sector". Mark Surtees will deliver the closing summary on day 2 of the conference.

The programme will focus on structures as well as rigging issues this year, bringing in experts from both fields including Cristiano Giavedoni of Kinesys, Chris Böttger from Tors Rigging, Gavin Bull from the HSE's Construction Division, Malcolm Richards of M.A. Richards and Company and Scott Nacheman of Thornton Tomasetti, to share their knowledge, experiences and advice.

In addition, attendees can book a place at the Riggers' Forum, held on Sunday 6 October from 2-5pm. This informal event, which costs £40 + VAT, provides company and freelance riggers with a platform to openly discuss issues affecting their daily working lives. The Forum will include a short presentation about climbing on trusses, an issue currently under scrutiny by the HSE, followed by an open forum for questions and points of concern. On hand will be members of the National Rigging Advisory Group, safety advisors and PLASA Skills to answer questions about the NRC.
