Studiomaster's head of design, Paul Belcher and Patrick Almond, head of marketing Soundking Group Europe, with the new Studiomaster Horizon 2012
UK / Germany - UK audio brand Studiomaster has reported success on all fronts at this year's Prolight+Sound exhibition in Frankfurt, as new products and proprietary technologies debuted on its stand generated a record increase in trade visitors and potential distribution opportunities in more than 40 new territories and market sectors. The company also announced the strengthening of its sales operation with the appointment of a global sales manager.

Major attractions included the company's first digital mixer, the DIGILIVE 24. A proprietary development, complete with moving faders and optional Firewire interface, it provides a unique expandable mix platform at an entry level price point; rackmount expander modules provide 40 channel and 56 channels systems. Also debuted in production prototype form was the Horizon 2012 powered mixer, offering unrivalled power and performance in an astonishingly compact, light weight form factor, which despite delivering 1000 watts per channel, comes with a shoulder carry strap.

Studiomaster also announced details of its new, patented digital amplifier design concept, combining current dumping with a polyphase output stage, which it has termed Polyphase Switching Amplification. In a presentation by Studiomaster's chief designer Paul Belcher and consultant designer Peter Hawkins, the company explained that the objective was to deliver equivalent sonic performance of an analogue device from the lightweight high power density topology of a Class D amplifier.

Prolight+Sound saw the announcement of the appointment of Wei Li as global sales manager. Wei Li comes to the company with a background in facilitating the participation of major international companies in the events and infrastructure projects market, throughout Europe; including the 2012 Olympic Games. Head of marketing Patrick Almond said, "Wei Li brings a special skills set to this new position in the sales team. The creation of this position and her appointment reflects the global ambitions for the Studiomaster brand moving forward."

Commenting on the commercial success of the exhibition for the company, Almond added, "The number of people visiting the stand was significantly higher than in previous years and the level of interest from trade visitors was greatly in excess of our expectations, and clearly owed much to our new product strategy. New distribution channels were opened up, with over 40 new sectors or territories to be set up in the following months."
