A view of Amway Plaza's screening room, designed to deliver clarity of sound and picture to Seoul's Gangseo district
South Korea - The quality and capacity of South Korea's hotel, shopping, seminar and conferencing facilities is increasingly highly-regarded on an international level. Leading operator Amway Korea has been a significant contributor to this upward trajectory for many years, and with the recent addition of a Plaza complex in the Gangseo District of Seoul it now has 14 multi-use sites to its credit throughout the country.

AV distributor and installer Sound Solution was engaged to provide suitably reliable and robust audio processing and distribution for Amway Plaza Gangseo, covering multiple seminar rooms and conference spaces. "The principal requirement for this project was to create an optimal acoustical environment by high quality digital audio processing, and it was this need that led us to consider the use of DSPs from Symetrix - a brand that we have used successfully on many previous occasions for a wide variety of installation types," says Lisa Lee from Sound Solution.

Fixed-configuration DSPs were determined to be sufficient for these relatively straightforward applications, along with simple configuration for the system inputs and outputs. In the larger seminar room, Sound Solution deployed a single Jupiter 8 app-based turnkey DSP, while the smaller Jupiter 4 model was deployed in each of the medium- and small-sized educational rooms. Across the three areas, the Symetrix DSPs handle all input mixing, graphic EQ and speaker management re-sponsibilities with a minimum of fuss.

Six months on from the completion of the audio processing fit-out, the Symetrix DSPs are continuing to tick all the boxes for Amway Plaza Gangseo's seminar and conference activities. "We have received very good feedback to the installation since work was completed," says Lee. "There is also a feeling of great satisfaction among the engineers working on the site because the Symetrix DSPs were so quick to program - our technicians needed only to visit the Symetrix website and download the best configuration (or 'app') for the venue, then load its pre-programmed settings onto the processor."

The commitment to quality and usability that led Sound Solution to deploy Symetrix DSPs also saw the company selecting products from several other eminent audio brands, including ISOMAX headsets from Countryman Associates, DN200 DIs from Klark Teknik, M32 and Venice U16 mixers from Midas, and Ayra5 active loudspeakers from RCF.
