Tim Riley.
After many years with Trantec, Tim Riley has left to form his own company - Richmond Unicorn Ltd - with the aim of marketing and selling what he describes as "the value for money option in many market areas".

Riley has his venture with Smartwireless. "After so many years in the radio mic business, it's clear that there is a large chunk of the market that is never likely to be as brand aware as the large radio mic companies would have us believe." he says. "Certainly there are end users the world over that will settle for nothing less than the market leader but I'm hoping to exploit the vast section of pro audio consumers, schools and colleges, churches, pubs, clubs, karaoke, DJ, aerobics and countless others that will rarely if ever be influenced by the hundreds of thousands of pounds of marketing money spent on them." He continues: "These people neither know or care about brand and as such fall into a catagory that simply want a product that can easily do the job in style without costing a fortune."

After sales positions with Korg, Trace Elliot and Beyerdynamic, Riley was recruited into the Trantec fold by Chris Gilbert. "When Chris asked me to join, my brief was to get the S5000 range into some high profile professional situations. My colleague Steve Bickford and I achieved this and further began the task of setting up a worldwide distributor network." In later years, as BBM marketing manager, Riley had become one of the faces best-known with the Trantec brand worldwide and it's this experience which led him to his decision to form his own company.

He contines: "My first venture is in the radio microphone field, as it's the one I know best. Hopefully Smartwireless will become the staple non-brand specific wireless product at the top of any re-sellers list. The gear is rugged, will do the job to a high standard and contains tons of profit. What more can you ask?"
