The SDRIVE motorised track system by Triple E
UK - Edinburgh-based technical installation specialist Northern Light is the first company to purchase the newly launched SDRIVE motorised track system by Triple E.

Following an industry and press launch hosted by Triple E's managing director David Edelstein at Portsmouth's King's Theatre in September, Northern Light project manager Martin Tarpy purchased the SDRIVE system for The New Waverley School in Birmingham.

"We wanted to deliver the best possible solution for the school's main proscenium theatre and consulted a range of suppliers, including Triple E," says Tarpy. "The SDRIVE had launched that very week and appeared to meet all of our technical criteria, as well as our budget."

The SDRIVE system is a compact and simple to use motor intended for curtains weighing up to 50kgs and is suitable for drama stages in buildings such as schools.

The new Waverley School is an "all-through" concept project incorporating both primary and secondary education. Northern Light is installing the technical systems for the main hall and principal drama area, which will double as an auditorium and stage house. The company is also installing systems in a secondary drama facility and recording studio with the full scope of works incorporating lighting, audio, video and tracks/drapes.

"SDRIVE is the result of demand from the industry and our distributors for a budget motor aimed at smaller venues," says David Edelstein. "It's easy to specify and easy to install, and is designed to motorise both straight and curved systems and will be available off the shelf for immediate delivery. We're delighted that Martin and Northern Light have seen the amazing possibilities of using SDRIVE and that it's being put to good use at such an interesting project such as Birmingham's The New Waverley School."
